You were lucky with the Inglourious Basterds steelbook as that is over the £15 customs limit, the limit ATM according to the HMRC website is $24.36 (15 x 1.6241)


So it it had got caught you would have had to pay VAT on the cost plus VAT on the P&p and then there's the Royal Mail £8 hostage fee as well.

It doesn't matter who the carrier is, be it Royal Mail, DHL, etc...If it's over the customs limit, it will be held at customs, and surcharged.

I once purchased two steelbooks from amazon.ca, and I was charged £6 tax, and that was with DHL.

Yep, but with DHL their clearance fee is much, much cheaper (think it's less than £2-3), certainly better than £8 from Royal Mail.

Well, I guess we all have to start somewhere. After months of lurking on a couple of these custom cover forums, I'm finally going to contribute something. Here's my first attempt at a custom Steelbook design.

* For the record, I'm not actually a fan of these particular Michael Bay movies, but I am an admitted Transformers "nerd", hence picking this to start with.
