It's still out of stock, but it shipped a day after I ordered it. Got to get me a region free player :naughty:

The insignia that is selling for $89 has a region free "remote hack". I guess you have to push the buttons in a certian order and you have to do it each time you turn on the player. Its probably the best option as its cheap as hell.

Yup, I saw the two different models. I'm planning on getting this very soon :D

I would get one, but I need analog audio outs and I only have a 3 way hdmi switcher for my video sources so I am kind of screwed. I guess I could get one and just watch it in dolby digital and uplug the hdmi cable when done.

I just got this delivered from amazon.de. It's a beauty!

It came by itself in a cardboard envelope, and its minty mint! I got a Psycho replacement delivered yesterday, also by itself and in an envelope, and that came mint too. I'm starting to think that ordering one at a time is a good way to ensure a mint copy. 14 EUR is damn expensive to ship one title though!

Be careful-there was a bit of an uproar on the net recently when official firmware for certain Insignia players "undid" the region-free capability. Then reports started surfacing that the firmware could be "rolled back" to a previous version to restore the functionality. I don't own the players, but FYI in case anyone else needs to investigate further.

The remote hack is only undone via unplugging the unit from the power recptacle. in which case you will have to re-type the the hack.

Tatanka... Tatanka...

I'm not going to update the firmware on the Insignia player. I have never updated the firmware on my Sony BDSP 360, and have never had problems playing any of my discs, including Avatar EE.

I have an extra Dances With Wolves on the way, that I plan on cracking open and testing out on the player. It's still sitting at home in the box.
