I had the exact same problem - chased HMV and after 2-3 email exchanges and a promise that I'd checked the local sorting office isn't hiding it and I'm not pulling a fast one they finally agreed to send a replacement - it 'should' be here next couple of days.....

....awful film though :(

I had to do the same thing - 'I swear to the postage gods that I have not received them'. The replacements turned up in I think about 3 days later. The original dispatch I'm doubtful now was ever sent. One I can believe would get lost but two separate packages - pfft!

I got mine today from a buddy in the UK, and the purple paint on the front is a mess. Chips and streaks of metal showing through. No way to fix this because of the color.

Already posted on the Retailer thread...Not happy

There is no way that this is being done on the retailer end. There are just too many retailers with the same slash in the same spot. It has to be done in production. Quality control is just not being handled properly. My copy of Dark Shadows has paint missing and a line going right through the D in Dark and it's not a scratch. It's just missing paint as well as a few other areas that are not chips.

Some of it maybe quality control at manufacturing, paint bubbles/chips/torn card (wtf is that all about?), but those lines look like classic box cutter lines to me.

The problem is that they are shipped empty from Denmark to an agent who opens the boxes up (with a Stanley knife) in order to put the discs inside, then it is reboxed before heading to the relevant retailer. The problem is with the agent, or possibly customs when the empty Steelbooks arrive from Denmark. Do we know if other European countries are suffering the same issues? If not, I'd say it is definitely down to the repackage agent.

Just got this in a few days ago....really nice SB. I love the finish...glossy, clean.
Movie was OK too

Bought this yesterday in store for £20.. the front and spine is perfect.. the back of the steel under the card has big flakes of paint missing :( but they won't swap it as the wrapper has come off.

That's not on at all my friend.

If you opened it and the disc was faulty, they'd still have to replace it.

I'd get onto their head office if I were you.

What on Earth has happened to customer service in this day and age? It's at an all time low it seems.

I think that is pretty much standard procedure, they are worried that people will just copy the discs and hand them back. Its not fair but that's the way it seems to be.

Do you return a lot of stuff to them by any chance? The only reason I ask is because I've bought many films from them and have only recently had to return one... I mentioned in my email that it had been unwrapped and they didn't seem bothered by it, so I got my refund pretty quickly.

Maybe if you've returned a few Blu's before, then they may be thinking something similar to what Sigill mentioned above. :dunno:

Either way, I hope you eventually manage to get a replacement/refund!

HMV.com accept returns for open items if they're damaged, less likely in-store which is where I think the problem lies.
