I just thought I would buy it for the film and buy all the films I like as Steelbooks but there's so many of them I got carried away and when I looked back I realised that even though I like the films and wanted a collection of all my favorite films in a Steelbook collection the artwork was just not doing anything for me. That feeling you get when you look at your recent purchase and knowing money is well spent and how you've gotten a nice, limited steelbook just wasn't there. Some of them like Drive, Play.coms Alien quadrilogy or Terminator Steelbooks, all my Disney/pixar/marvel ones and the like are keepers but the rest I'm not feeling it.
Maybe if I can some extras along with good artwork they would justify it more.
Zavvi have literally sucked the fun out of it so this Deadpool one is a nice change
That's understandable mate and I also got carried away. I was also getting a few US and European steels at the time but it wasn't until I got an Asian release I had a more love for them. Or the unique releases from Zavvi like the Disney collection (which I love) and some
Other titles. But it's horrible when you look back at some and think why o why and the art just don't do it. Also all the ultra limited made me panic buy in a way.
But I calmed down last year and stopped buying their catalogue titles on release and just waited it out. Sometimes waiting a few weeks for a drop and other times months and months but it pays off and you save so much more money. Unless it's a title you love and think it will sell out then yeah go for it but also this whole in and out of stock and then all of a sudden £6.99 was slapping me in the face so I just took the risk.
But yeah I now get that feeling when you look at a recent steel and it being worth the price and can't stop staring at it with some Zavvi or uk releases but mainly for me stuff from kimchi and nova and now FAC (also got my first proper blufans release recently - the guardians of the Galaxy rocket & Groot Steelbook lenticular and it's a stunning release, I keep staring at it lol).
Germany get some decent steels at times too and the US mondo collection looks great too. Well most countries get great releases but it's not consistent, especially the UK.
The thing is with Zavvi and them including extras really puts me off after the awful marvel lenticular wave. Only really 2 or 3 okayish steels in that wave and even then the lentis aren't great.
I'm really impressed with my 2 FACs I got yeaterday I would love the uk to produce these packages but it's scares me if Zavvi were to opt into that idea.
The hungers games collection lenti mock up looks great and I hope that's the standard of Kimchi, nova, blufans and FAC. Steel looks great too
