Jesus, the artwork for this film is already exploding with color. Why would anyone want to use holofoil for any of it? Total overkill, ruins the base colors of the image. Why do so many companies keep using an effect that so many people complain about? I rarely see anyone complain about other types of treatments (debossing/embossing, spot gloss, textures, etc.).

That slip looks nice but I'm looking forward to seeing proper pics of the other slip the most to see how the finish is. Artwork isn't the best but I think they will give it some spice

Holo-foil = Holo-fail. Please stop using this it just looks tacky 99% of the time. This is one of the reasons why i prefer Lenticulars coz they might holo-foil the back but they cant holo-foil the lenti. I also ordered the Full Slip A1 direct (I just hope that that isnt holo-foil as well)

Yep, Lenti looks horrible as well. Hope Blufans is better
Dark and de-saturated is no way to photograph a lenticular. I appreciate the Korean photographer uploading in hand images but in the same location, he made the Blufans Guardians look like this;

Feel free to make up in your own mind if that is an accurate representation of that steelbook. I mean no disrespect to the man, but I have a feeling the Doctor Strange lenticular will look better in hand. I'm not going to speak in absolutes cause nobody here has even seen it yet to give their opinion but I have faith in Kimchidvd

I really don't mind the occasional holofoil release, but what does bug me is when it is used to the exclusion of other slip treatments. It seems like most retailers don't bother to consider any other finishes to the slip once they decide to go with foil. Sometimes we'll see it combined with 'bossing, but that's about the extent of it.

I think holofoil can add some much needed emphasis to certain elements--especially if used sparingly. It's just a shame that retailers more often than not slather the whole slip in foil and call it a day.

That said, I don't think Kimchi will be doing any spot holofoil anytime soon after the Life full slip debacle. :facepalm:
