if you take a look at their shareprice in recent years
last year they closed a load of stores
their shareprice has been dropping even though they sold waterstones (a massive loss making factor for them)
they also didn't make the sales desired during the xmas trade.

all of this doesn't bode well at all.

i was in the line for the midnight launch of arkham city and there were 10 people in the queue! 10!
why?
nothing in the news about a midnight launch, not on their website, nothing.
i believe HMV are on their last legs and management know this and although a buyout( of the HMV name)
could be on the cards, this is looking like a ZAVVI affair all over again.

HMV might not be around much longer IMO. They will probably have the online portion, but I think the stores will all shut down within the next year or so. There have been rumors of it being as soon as this year.

Yeah, I heard the same rumour (from an actual HMV employer). Not that I'm too bothered though, as their store prices are ridiculous compared to their prices online, which is why I haven't actually stepped foot in an HMV store for over a year or so. I do love their site though, so as long as that sticks around and they continue to sell Steelbooks, then I'm happy!
