Hey guys! I've been asked to gauge the response of our membership here and your feedback will help determine if this steelbook and potentially other steelbooks like it become a reality! I hope you are as excited as I am about this opportunity to weigh in on the beginnings of the steelbook process.

If you're not familiar with Mondo, and what they do, here's a small overview...

Mondo creates limited edition screen printed posters for our favorite classic and contemporary films, in addition to vinyl movie soundtracks, VHS re-issues, and apparel. We also have a permanent gallery space in Austin, TX featuring a mix of original artwork and limited edition screen prints.

See more of what they do at http://www.mondotees.com

Here's the art that has the best chance of being approved! DRIVE.

What could set this steelbook apart?

1) As we already said, Mondo artwork
2) For part of the finish, a number of layers of paint can be applied to the steelbook. Whites appear whiter, and color contrasts should appear starker when seen in person.
3) HIGH GLOSS
4) No debossing or embossing as it would detract from the new "layered" effect
5) WEA artwork
6) Potential minimum print run of 4,000 units

Where would this steelbook be released? I can't say right now, but let us know your feedback. If you have other design ideas, let us know, and maybe they will be included in the final product!

As much as I love some of the Kimchi releases, this for me would be the Ultimate Drive steel. Hope there's news soon on whether this is going to be a reality.

I agree, really looking forward to the Kimchi release and hopefully will get a copy but this is still my ultimate No.1 steelbook want ever!!

Fingers crossed it happens! :scat:

Agree guys. No doubt the kimchi/Plain will be awesome and I can't wait for it.
BUT this needs to happen!
:yeahthat: +1

I just hope the announcement of the Kimchi steelbook hasn't now put them (whoever THEY are) off this idea. :ohno:

There's a place for this steelbook imo. Would be quite nice to build a collection of Mondo steels. Ender's Game , Looper, Drive etc... :D

I agree with this as well and would love to see The Dark Knight with the Joker and the "Why so Serious?" poster artwork done in Mondo as well....:scat:

I don't think Kimchi will beat this. I'm sure what they come up with will be very nice but it won't be as unique. Done right this could wipe the floor with many of the highly regarded titles with nice finishes. :D

This would be even more spectacular if they came up with some sort of clear slip to protect the high gloss finish from scrapes.

The Ultimate Drive :scat:

Is it possible for staff to say if the Kimchi release has had any impact on whether this one will be given the go-ahead? :ohno:

also, just 8 more yes votes to hit 500!!

It would be nice to get confirmados on this as soon as possible so we could plan ahead and take our picks between Mondo and Kimchi (what a crueld world, wish I could own both!!)

I will most likely get both releases! :D:D:D

Same here. Kimchi and Plain Archive are masters at putting together a beautiful SteelBook package, so you just know that will be an amazing release.

This one is a no-brainer, too. Beautiful Mondo art on a glossy Steel for one of the best films of the last decade? Yeah, I'll definitely scoop that up.

Honestly, Drive probably is my favourite film of the last decade and I still don't own a SteelBook for it. I don't like the flipped spine and foreign text on the France release and the UK one -- while the pink on black looks sharp -- really does nothing for me with the zero inside art and clear-as-day photoshopped sunglasses.

I can't wait for these! :scat:
