So fess up-has there been a time when you've been seduced by the art of the Steelbook, but really didn't like the flick?

Examples? Chime in and have fun!

That's why it's called an addiction and I'm afraid I've been bit. I was just a casual buyer until Dec. and I've managed to pick up 23 in the last couple of months. :emb:

Ya, I'm hooked, too. :D I have bought some Steels that I otherwise might not purchase if they weren't Steels, but I haven't bought any movies that I have zero interest in or despise. Yet.

now when you own 3 of the same movie you've been bit ... and when you own 6 you've been stung, and when you have to have every single one when the artwork isnt even different .... well, then you've been "Crashed" :D

LOL

It's a relief to know I haven't even been "bit" yet. :D

No I don't buy movies I don't like just because they are steelbooks. They'd have to be an exceptionally nice steelbook for me to bite.

- Twilight New Moon (BB). I totally dislike this movie but I just couldn't resist an embossed steel at such an affordable price.
- Death Race and 10,000BC (DE) were so-so movies for me that I wouldn't have bought if it weren't for the debossing (Death Race) and the cracked lacquer effect (10,000BC).

You're just playing catch up is all, no need to worry yet ... now when you own 3 of the same movie you've been bit ... and when you own 6 you've been stung, and when you have to have every single one when the artwork isnt even different .... well, then you've been "Crashed" :D

Well I guess I still have alot of catching up to do. ;)

I have bought a couple of movies that were decent but nothing special just for the steelbook. If they were in a standard case i don't think i would have bought them. I haven't bought any i don't like yet!

Well I have quite a few that I said I would never replace on blu because I was happy with the dvd but when the steelbooks came out especially the recent Alliance & Warner Bros. steels that were cheap, that promise kind of went out the window. I said to myself I would only replace the Sci-fi's or my absolute favourites but I've said bye-bye to that idea a long time ago. Now I do have some steels that I bought in which I like the movie but probably would never buy unless it was dirt cheap that is until the steel came out. Kick-ass and Inglourious Basterds for example, both good movies but ones I didn't feel I needed to buy until I saw the steel.

This addiction is killing me !! but there are some movies, especially the multi buys where I wonder "why did I buy that"; sitting on 3 spare Twilight Saga's (keeper, watcher and 3 spare) also a couple of cheap Wofman as well; and whilst not such a bad movie, it's a "put-brain-in-neutral" movie, I have so many different versions of Resident Evil: Afterlife, and Sony had cheek to use same box and artwork on all of them.
So far only have single sealed copies of Karate Kid and 10,000BC.

for me a film has to be terrible (and i mean truly offensively awful) for me not to own it. purely on account that i might want to watch it again at some point. sometimes a film can seem better years later.
i think though even a terrible film might stay in my collection if its a steelbook.
so far the only films that i have deemed so poor as not to own are the tyson movie (not even a movie. just tyson talking over himself. didnt understand it, and found it so mind numbing i switched it off), and a couple of cheesey looking chick flicks, which i might yet get again.
so terrible films on steel? well, i have to say, i thought wolfman was ok, and 2012 i enjoyed. not watched 10,000bc yet. ive heard the spirit is poor not seen it yet.
and human centipede i enjoyed to an extent too.

I thaught Wanted wasn't very good but I ended buying the UK steelbook anyway

really? i quite enjoyed it. i suppose i never expect too much from graphic novel translations, so i dont get let down. i thought wanted was a pretty good effort, with strong characers and and a decent enough plot.
each to thier own i guess.
its often funny to discover somebodies favourite films, and for them to be films that you find dull/boring/poorly made etc.

off the top of my head, my favourite films are probably butterfly effect, back to the future trilogy, robocop, braveheart, troy and kick ass. i bet theres plenty of folk out there who find all of those poor films :D

I need to watch it again someday might have a different opinion. My biggest beef was Angelina. I usually love her but in this film she looked really thin and gaunt looking for some reason
