Yawn. For once it would be nice to enter a thread that isn't full of posts saying 'it would look better like this' with a million different photoshop efforts. It is what it is. This is a Fox release, the artwork won't change, deal with it!

Was that black and white artwork done by Drew Struzan? Parts of it look like his style.

No, Its by Grzegorz Domaradzki

they have got to change ''a homespun murder story'' layout and font, then it might look ok...

I'd be first to buy this but the text on the front ('a homespun murder story') killed it for me :( Uh, can't even look at this! The one posted here earlier (with artwork by Gabz) looks much, much better. I wonder why they don't want to order some artwork from talented people like Durieux, Gabz or Marin Ansin. Steels with such exclusive artwork would go OOP in days if not hours.

I just can't believe that someone got paid for designing that and someone gave it the OK. It's like a young teens photoshop effort as they experiment with different fonts and placement.
don't attack the designer,he's just doing his job. attack the studio who made the final decision.

Just because they're a designer it don't instantly make them good at their job. Or at least it don't mean everything they do is perfect. Sometimes some of these terrible designs are the designers best effort!
Everyone see things differently. Take for example Nicholas winding refn picking the only god forgives art. He obviously thought it was good but the majority didn't and even more heart breaking when you see much better artwork submitted that he could of picked. And trejo picking the machete kills art when he had much better options. Again the person who submitted them was clearly happy but I was not expecting both covers in a million years to be picked because I thought they looked amateur. At times both parties are to blame and other times the designer and sometimes the retailer we just don't know what's what or who's to blame

i like it. and im not the only one,and the rest don't like it,from the designer's point of view he's trying to please everyone,do you know how hard it is to please everyone? almost impossible. it probably wasn't the designers only idea,he probably came up with a few. but the studio decided on the final design, simple.

I haven't actually commented on this one yet, I was just trying to put a point across that not all designers are good at their jobs and they can always submit something terrible that they think is great.
The designer may of come up with others and they could of been much worse and they went with the best of a bad bunch. It is hard to please everyone but when most show love for a certain picture that you instantly know will sell well because of backlash and feedback and it's a picture that they will have permission to use and then they choose something the complete opposite that (sometimes) looks terrible is just beyond me.
I'm not trying to get into an argument with you I'm just stating that both parties can be responsible for terrible art and decisions. I completely understand that In some cases designers are given strict rules on how they want the art to turn out.

Anyway .... I'm personally not too keen on this design. The woodchipper guy looks extremely fake and I can't stand the way "a homespun murder story" is written. Back does look good tho.
I love this film and I played it to a mate recently who had never seen it and thought ohh I need to update to blu ray. Shame because the woven cover would of been awesome.

Me too but I'll wait for a price drop or different country release with (hopefully) different art
