No 3d = No buy. I pretty much appreciate content in addition to a wonderful steel. Lack of 3d is a huge missed opportunity IMO. The color seems dull compared to the Bestbuy and FS vivas. Viva will do mighty fine for me.

If you want the 3D then grab the German release.. Embossed.. But until my uk one arrives I can't tell the difference.. Side by side comparison needed...EEK!

Couldn't care less about 3D. I can't imagine a day I'll ever watch a 3D film in my house...

I also have this on amaray and when the option came up for with 3D for an extra $10 or without, I went for without.

i'm actually glad i re-ordered this :D. I had cancelled my order shortly before it first went out of stock, then after deliberating for awhile, re-ordered it when it came back in stock. So glad that I did, because the embossing looks sick!

I'll never understand why the UK hardly ever gets 3D discs in the steelbooks even when the same versions are available abroad with them included.

I couldn't give two hoots about having a 3D disc in there, I can't stand watching 3D and certainly don't want to pay extra for something I'm not going to use.

Agreed

I own a 3d tv, but at the end of the day, I could care less if it has 3d or not. I don't know about everyone else, but I'm paying for the packaging (steelbook), not the content inside. Plus adding a 3d disc would have raised the price of this, which would not be cool with all these releases coming.

It comes down to sales really. 3D home video and steelbooks are both relatively niche segments of the Blu-Ray market (albeit both growing), so it makes sense not to combine the two. All I can suggest is that you email Disney UK and let them know this is something you'd want. The more they hear that there is a market for 3D steelbooks, the more likely they'll consider releasing them.

Content wise Disney sucks big time for us in the UK. They deliberately exclude the bonus disc on the 2D release and sometimes on the 3D releases too.:(

This one baffles me, too. I understand why they exclude the content from 2D releases (buy the more expensive product!) but when they exclude bonus features from all UK releases, there seems to be no rhyme or reason. I've emailed them in the past about this, and was told that I'm welcome to import if I'm unhappy with UK releases! So they aren't always the most helpful bunch.

The 3D version of nemo is definitely an upgrade to the 2D version and extends the experience. So I think everyone with 3D equipment should give it a try.

You can get the 3D version of the movie with ease in the future, but not this steelbook treatment. I also saw the Viva. While it definitely looks better than the german steelbook, I'm still glad that I decided for the zavvi one.

Sorry guys, I didn't mean for this thread to turn into a 3d pros and cons. I was just talking UK steelbooks in general (this, Cap America, Thor, Res 5 etc).

I do love the embossing on this one but no 3d was the deal breaker for me that's why I went with the VIVA.

My comment about the 3d extending the experience was actually only referred to this:

Couldn't care less about 3D. I can't imagine a day I'll ever watch a 3D film in my house...

Many seem to have a problem with the missing 3D disc, that's why I also said:

But well, it's sold out anyway...

Arrived this morning. Very nice. Bit darker than I thought it would be, but still a great steel.

I actually don't think that most of the reviewers can be wrong.
But hey, to each his own ;)

I'd say that most reviewers are wrong more than they are right. There's only a few that I trust and most others I just ignore.

And when it comes to 3D it's very individual. Not every one can see 3D and some get headaches and issues when watching 3D. To me it doesn't add much, it's just a gimmick to sell movies imo.

But to each their own of course. :)

This steelbook looks great but I'm glad I stuck with my Viva. I prefer them in general and really wish they didn't get shut down.
