They provide ebay with a list of authorized re-sellers that are allowed and these would be at cost price.

Well this is my first Eureka title so I'm not familiar with them.

What's the point in choosing the steelbook medium for your product if your not going to utilise it fully?

Even the amaray has pics and credits on the back.

consumers have rights. unless its illegal to resell digital media, how can zavvi tell ebay what to do? and if zavvi were somehow allowed to ban the resell of its products, what would that mean for amazon, hmv and any other retailer and its customers. its practically a ban on the second hand market. unless its made law, its not going to happen.

and since ebay is build almost entirely on the secondhand/resell market, why would they bite the hand that feeds them.

Well, definitely most of the time :thumbs:

The back probably won't be completely blank, however (haven't seen any real life pictures, yet).

Borrowing a couple of examples from the excellent scan collection of @dfoles

Eureka have established their style for steelbook releases and I guess they are going to stick with that, albeit I'm not a huge fan of the mostly blank backs myself.

Yup, the few plastic case releases that I've spotted have some kind of artwork on the back . . . admittedly not a single one - except maybe #4 - would be an improvement on no artwork at all (if that's what we have here) . . . and all with the same artwork on the front:-
This is not a Masters of Cinema release and I was hoping for something on the back.

On the one hand it's true that all but one of the Eureka Masters of Cinema numbered spine collection have partially printed backs with the titles of the respective films only and no artwork - examples shown here :-

. . . and, on the other hand, the only MOC with back artwork - JOAN OF ARC - just happens to come in a slipbox so it doesn't fit in well with the collection anyway:-

Back artwork is likely to be seen on Eureka Entertainment steelbooks such as on THE ENTITY (even if just a fancy title treatment), SHOGUN ASSASSIN and ENEMY MINE but reportedly not on FRIGHT NIGHT . . . and for METROPOLIS 2001 we'll just have to wait and see but as with FN no pre-release images have been revealed so probably another with a blank back :-

Zavvi can cancel any bulk order if it's been purchased for re-sale and is covered in their terms and conditions all customers agree to when using Zavvi website to place an order.

The consumer rights of re-sell is meant to allow you to sell used or unwanted items they purchased or got as a gift it's not for selling in bulk without the permission of the retailer if a retailer clearly states this in it's terms and conditions
The products sold on the Zavvi Website are not for re-sale or distribution and Zavvi clearly list the following You are limited to a purchase of 5 items of any one product. We reserve the right to cancel orders and/or suspend accounts where we believe products are being ordered in breach of this provision.

Selling on amazon or ebay your used or new a item purchased as in not bulk amount is ok but if bulk items been sold of a same product they are not personal unwanted item purchased they have been purchased only for the purpose of re-sale and distribution if this was not authorized by the retailer they can have the listing removed.

United States Supreme Court decision on rights of resell does not apply to UK or European Courts
It's for USA customers only who purchase from outside USA and sell in USA

Items purchased from Zavvi is covered by UK laws

My copy just arrived and it seems to work fine on my multi region blu ray player (currently set to Region A) despite it saying Region B on casing and disc.

I love the front art, it has a really nice smooth finish too.

Sorry for the sideways pics, they're upright in my gallery, I don't know why they randomly turn themselves round when uploaded

The lack of back art was as much of a let down as when I bought big trouble.. plus I got extra at its covered in scratches.

Blu ray disc says region B but I can't test to see if it's locked

Back of the booklet (was happy to find the extra, I don't know if I knew it was coming with a booklet or just forgot)

That inside artwork is terribly centered. Would have been better if they just tweaked it slightly so that her face is centered on the left hand side and not half on the spine.

The back of the booklet cover should have been the back design of the steelbook instead of being completely blank.

It's just a pity Eureka couldn't put as much effort into their steelbooks as they do their discs!

Now I rarely buy from Zavvi because we have a love/hate relationship with their steelbook treatment.

Anyway, my copy of Fright Night arrived not long ago and my heart skipped a beat when I saw this:

The good news is that my steelbook survived and looks mint with no scratches or bends (phew).

I've just tested the Bluray disc on my American Playstation 3, that cannot play Region B discs, and it works!

I also tested some of the Special Features and they also work. :thumbs:

EDIT: The DVD also works on my USA PS3, so both discs are region free.

Think it looks boring. Nothing special. Spot glossing could have made it look so much better. But this is a golden goose now so make the best of use of it. :naughty:

This is one of my greatest fears every time I order from Zavvi, especially since I live in the US. So far I've never had any problems but since the Fright Night steelbook is OOP I'm pretty sure I'm not going to get a replacement if it's damaged. Hopefully it gets to me in good condition from the postman.
