Can't help but think this is getting a little overhyped for the average product it is by some of the comments on here.

To praise something for being consistent (but consistently lazy) is just wearing rose tinted glasses IMO.

It's good that they used the original poster art as choice of artwork for the front of the steelbook. But everything else about it is average at best. Post manufactured surface scratches included.

This is my first Eureka steelbook title. And will probably be my last now I know how they operate.

Will happily take this off you if you aren't satisfied

Nobody in their right mind will pay GBP 16.99/19.99 for the Amaray and will wait like me for the time when it's offered in a "5 for GBP 30" promotion.

what if someone were to walk into a CEX store and saw they had 6 Fright Night steels in stock, purchased them all and resold them. they have not broken zavvi's 'provision' because they didnt purchase them from zavvi.

Well, CEX is not zavvi so how could there be any breach of zavvi's policy? And CEX would offer you half the orig. price so it would be kind of stupid to sell them to them :)

Based on the number of people that claim to have bought HMV Thor steelbooks at bargain prices in CEX, it could happen. Imagine the scenario.

Scalper buys 15 copies of Fright Night. Hears George Michael has died. 'Oh no, this is terrible! I can't take much more of this, I hate 2016!'
Hears Carrie Fisher has died. 'This is too much to take!'. Then Debbie Reynolds dies, and they take to the booze and antidepressants. Found dead by a neighbour, with 15 copies of Fright Night blocking the front door, they scoop them up, stroll down to their local CEX, and pocket some cold hard cash...
Happy 2017 everyone!

lmao

i mean, just because you are selling zavvi steels on ebay, doesnt mean you got it from zavvi. you could have been rounding them all up at CEX to resell on ebay.

if zavvi were able to have your listing removed, in this scenario it would be unjustified, because you didnt actually bulk buy from zavvi lol

happy new year

What's good about this release vs. What's not so good . . .

Firstly the Not So Good:
- An almost completely bare naked back which is a first for a Eureka steelbook as they always at least have the titles of the respective films on the backs:-

upload_2017-1-1_11-34-3.png

upload_2017-1-1_11-38-1.png

This one at least should have had the FRIGHT NIGHT logo on the back in the same style as on the front . . . but maybe in red or orange for a bit of contrast:-

The shock of the bare back probably most keenly felt by the members here who are unfamiliar with Eureka steelbooks . . . members that wouldn't normally touch Eureka steelbooks with a barge-pole.

The Good:
- First time release on Blu-ray in the U.K.
- Region Free (unlike the other two Eureka steelbooks released at the same time - ENEMY MINE and THE ENTITY - which are reportedly Region "B" locked).
- 20 page booklet.
- 4K re-mastered film.
- A ton of Extras.
- Original poster artwork for the front . . . over-used, maybe, as it's on maybe every single home media front cover release from the days of VHS via soundtrack albums and laserdiscs to DVDs and now Blu-rays.
- Typically elegant, smooth and weighty Eureka steelbook with cool, appropriate finish not interfering with the imagery.
- Uniformity: Along with Arrow steelbooks these Eureka steels line-up well together to make a nice little mini collection all by themselves:-

-
. . . albeit on a much smaller scale when compared to the Amaray editions where, as with Arrow Amarays, there are literally hundreds of titles - for example over 150 BD titles in the Masters of Cinema collection alone to date. All look great lined up on the shelves as well.
Uniformity of spine design is wonderful to see and shows that the designers of the Eureka and Arrow steelbooks and Amarays care for the collector and his/her foibles . . . unlike Disney as a prime example of a company that doesn't give the collector a thought.

I've never seen a brand new sealed steelbook in CEX. At least not in my one.

They open them up to take out the discs and put them in plastic envelopes behind the counter.

The empty steelbook is then put on display. Once it's open, it gets pawed/handled and eventually destroyed on the shelf.

You have to be extremely lucky with CEX. Let alone find 15 sealed copies of a steelbook!

Fright Night sold extremely well as a Steelbook simply because it's on sale before the Amaray which is not out till April

Fright Night has a huge cult following and is also why the Fright Night You're So Cool Brewster Full Documentary Blu-ray sold well on it's own

Remember both Twilight Time releases 3,000 and 5,000 releases sold out extremely fast and was a USA release

Eureka Fright Night Amaray release will also sell very well

Eureka Blu-ray is the best version at the moment best video encode and best for extras
A lot Fans of this film are getting both Cult Screenings Full Version You're So Cool Brewster Documentary and the Eureka Blu-ray Steelbook and also the Amaray

There are lots of Fright Night fans who are when it come to cult films this happens
I was very surprised at how Eureka under estimated the demand for this Film on Blu-ray it has a massive cult following and all previous releases have sold fast

They easily could have sold 4,000 Steelbooks
2,000 was to low for a cult film that has history of fast sell out on Blu-ray twice

Yes, quite so, and now to sign a petition to send to the good folk up at Eureka Towers for another 2,000 copies to be printed . . .

Regarding the Amaray: even though it will not have the booklet - which is reportedly a steelbook exclusive - it will no doubt have reversible artwork on the sleeve to make up for that failing - even if it's just the same front artwork but without the BBFC logos (in the style of those new releases from Powerhouse Films in their Indicator Series).
Another good thing about the Amaray is that masses will be printed (having witnessed the sell out speed of the steelbook) and so will be available cheaply further down the line.
Final good thing about the Amaray is that it will contain the exact same discs as the steelbook and anyway those clear white Amarays used by Eureka, Arrow and other distributors are a million times preferable to blue Amarays :thumbs::thumbs:

Got my copy a few days ago, very impressed!

Lovely finish to the steelbook and a great package-staying minty sealed, as is my autistic nature, ha, ha!

Must say that I am a fan of Eureka's trend of using original poster art-their Silent Running steel is gorgeous and I couldn't really give a hoot about the bare rear of the steels, when the front is as well done as it is.

Yes, would agree with you about all except for THE ENTITY where I would have preferred something different (i.e. not just a copy of the original big title poster design) as seen also on the Amaray editions:-
