I still fail to see why you didn't pre-order and cancel later on if need be - Zavvi dont charge until the week before release you know.

In fact, with so many steels selling out before release date, its good practice to pre-order any and all titles you 'might' want, and cancel later if you change your mind or decide you no longer want it for whatever reason.

So in that sense, it really is silly to complain about missing out when a steel has been available for so long. You should never assume that a title wont sell out, and should in fact assume the opposite if anything.

Touché, albeit I have tried this method and at times I have ended up not cancelling due to a steelbook being sold out and living myself stuck financially. Like have you any idea how hard it is to cancel an already sold out steelbook? Knowing you will not have the chance to get it again, while also bearing in mind you cannot afford the steelbook at this time in your life. Then there are the times when the money is taken earlier than expected and you don't cancel in time and it's like **** I wasn't expecting the money to go that quickly. The original post was satirical and not meant in bad form. But it also has an underlying theme that not everything is black and white when it comes to 'just pre-order and worry later.' I love collecting steelbooks and I started before I had other life commitments and many more work hours, but it's hard to simply stop. I am a moment where I have to pick and choose, and choose wisely. However I failed to pull the trigger in time on this one. You live and learn.

Either you want it or you don't simple:D

This one was hard for me to judge I wasn't sure how that front cover would work with the aged look full cover art & no title, it's sometimes hard to judge by a picture.

I had planned on waiting until somebody had it in hand & posted pics then I could make my decision.

Oh well to late for me now.

Most zavvi pre orders that have sold out seem to come back up for sale at some point even if its not for very long. Rambo and tron are both examples. So keep an eye out and fingers crossed

yeah I know you weren't being too serious :) (though it was awfully well put together and a fun read I must admit. So thanks for that.)

BUT, despite your points(made very well), isnt it still better to order anyway (and keep track of them mind - I've had to set up reminders for the week before and am constantly flicking through my pre-orders from time to time too) and suffer the Sophie's Choice of having to cancel a sold out steel you cant afford? Surely that's the more optimal situation to be in rather than missing our completely?

Though I understand its not always so black and white, but I still think its better to decide you want to cancel something rather than not have the choice at all.
each to their own mind :)

Yeah I know it says limited to 4000 and people still buy multiple copies. Collectors sure are great.

sadly I'm one who ordered multiple - well 2 - but its for the pure fact that 'should' it sell out, I have less chance of being stuck with a damaged steel. I've effectively doubled my chance of a mint one arriving, undamaged.

Though if it looks like a steel isnt selling out, i.e. The Jungle Book (I've just cancelled my spare in all honesty and hope I've made the right choice...)

I've cancelled 99% of my Zavvi preorders except this, just for Salma's sake, I mean Asian slips excites the hell out of me as ya all know and really nothing Zavvi releases has the same effect except Salma's front-cover steelbook lol

Its easy, you just click the cancel button...I preorder loads of items, why spend a few weeks/months debating weather you want something only to decide yes and then find its sold out when you can preorder when its announced and decide later knowing your copy is secured. As for cancelling a 'sold out' steelbook...you either want to or you dont, Ive cancelled pretty much half of the Zavvi preorders I had, some of them were 'sold out' items, do I care? no because I decided I didnt want it for whatever reason, if its something I think I'll regret cancelling I'll find a way to get it..there is always a way - by cancelling something you know you can buy at a later date for example

Im really looking forward to this release though, I know the art and lack of title had divided opinion but I think its gonna be one of those steelbooks that will look great in hand....

CHILL

If you really want this you'll get your chance on release day or a few days earlier on zavvi outlet - as always...

I think we've established that some people like to pre-order lots of steelbooks, and have the self control to cancel the ones they decide they really don't want. That others don't have the will to cancel a pre-order when it sells out, despite not being able to feed the children for a month. That you will probably have a chance to buy at the zavvi outlet if you're quick enough, and that if you have a small lottery win you'll be able to pick one up from someone who ordered multiple copies in the hope of making a quick buck.

I only ordered one, as I like the movie but have mixed feelings about the artwork.

i think one of the main reasons why this sold out so fast, is the artwork, which looks quite unique. ;)

...and possibly also because there is a good steelbook for almost any other tarantino film in germany, but "from dusk till dawn" is still cut and butchered there.
and everyone wants the uncut steelbook now.
