Identical to the Zavvi-release. So we're all paying a premium for the lenticular image and the unknown & unconfirmed bonus-gift.

I'm disappointed, I have to say.

Where did I say I wasn't disappointed in their Thor-release :)?

With an exclusive, I expect at least one bit to be exclusive in the main artwork. BluFans does that perfectly.

But this is not new information. We've known this was the case before the exclusive was even announced. Kimchi is simply trying to make the best with what they are given. Honestly... is there anything under the sun they do better with the steelbook Disney is giving them? I don't know what it could be if there us anything. They did the same thing with Thor 2 and as far as I'm concerned the transformation in package presentation is absolute sorcery.

In my honest, albeit subjective opinion- I think $40- $50 is a perfect price range for these superb limited edition steelbooks. A regular Disney 3D film usually cost $29.99 in the U.S.- for $20 more you are getting an amazing collectible package. The shipping and other fees really can't factor in, as you are importing the product. This is not even touching on the time and patience that goes behind the launch of these exclusives. Judging on the demand these releases get, I have to say most people think it is a pretty spectacular value proposition. It does seem that these prices are set by Disney themselves and not the steelbook vendor. As other Kimchi release have proven, these are assets that increase in value over time. So if you regret spending the money, or decide to leave this hobby- you could easily find someone happy to purchase it from you. That said, I know everybody's wants/needs are different. So I respect your opinion ;)

??? The majority of steelbooks cost $30+, especially for us here in the US...

What are you talking about? Thor 2 at BestBuy was $25 total. And $30 like Amazing Spider-Man is where I draw the line. Anything more is just senseless. Imports I draw the line at $50 shipped. Frozen I made an exception cuz it was a GB so gotta pay the fees.

Oh, I didn't know you were just talking about American steelbooks. In that case, yes most of them are <$30.

Yeah we can only hope the bonus gift will make it worth it. Cuz I hate paying these prices for SteelBooks.

This is all up to you. The true value of the steelbook is whatever you personally give it.

The actual steelbook is the same as all the other worldwide releases, and this was known from the beginning. In fact, that's part of the reason why the Kimchidvd version is so rare - because Disney would only give 1000 copies to Kimchidvd for their own particular exclusive.

Whether the slipcover + preorder gift is worth the extra ~$20 and the effort to order is your own personal preference, and if you don't think it is...just don't order it and let someone else who would really want it get a copy.

Personally, I think they should raise the prices on these if they can. That would:

1. Decrease demand, so that only people who really want it will get it (would also help the servers).
2. Provide more net profit for Kimchidvd.
3. Discourage scalping.

I'm sorry, but I have to politely disagree with your last point. For most collectors, adding exclusives to their collection is already a costly endeavor. Raising the price for the reasons stated above would not seem like a smart move for either party involved, which in turn could lower the value proposition of the steelbook itself- decreasing demand and over all sales. I know most HDN members, including myself, really enjoy Kimchi exclusives- but if they got ridiculously expensive, I don't think many people would bite. Especially if the reason was one of the ones listed in your third point. Unfortunately, there will always be scalpers. Everyone has there own moral compass- and if these exclusive got more expensive it would have a direct effect on the price scalpers try to sell them for. If Kimchi decided to offer a more inclusive deluxe bundle, with more goodies- then yes, by all means that would deserve a price hike. Just my personal opinion :D

Well, I'm not suggesting they make the prices ridiculously expensive, just more so. Also not suggesting they do this for every exclusive, just ones that are limited to only 1000 copies (which almost guarantees getting sold out).

As we've seen on eBay, some people are willing to pay $200 for these. So they clearly really want these. My point is: If the price point is too much for you, then you simply don't want it as badly as some others do. So let people who really want it, get it.

Hmm, I am surprised at how cheap these are TBH. Numbered to only 300 & 700 and knowing people will pay 100's on Ebay and they still keep it below $50? Pfft, I will take all I can get my hands on....
