Hi all, HDZeta had put in all efforts to make this release a success.
They kept the quality in checks, if the QC can't even pass our eyes. (as collector) do you think it would pass yours?

Please be fair and not judge something you dont know.

Arranging a steelbook release is not what you think that easy, have you tried to get one done? If not who are you to make such statement.
I'm not siding either side, who wishes for delays? Let me ask you this question, do you prefer to receive bad quality steelbook and we stick to the released date as promised?
Or you prefer we redo the whole batch and delay it?

Which one would you go for?

Not happy, let me know.
Thanks for this perspective check! In the end, it's much more complicated than it seems to us, as collectors. And yes, I'd much rather that they corrected mistakes and delivered the best quality release that they can. If they release sub-standard steels, the likelihood of keeping us as collectors is low, so it's in their best interest (and our's) to do so.

I have no problem with the delay; it happens with lots of products. Someone earlier mentioned Sideshow Collectibles; that's a great example.

As a consumer, I always feel better about the delay when I am proactively informed of it and when I am kept informed of its status, rather than having to guess as to what is happening. But, this situation is different because this is a group buy that is being hosted by a generous, benevolent HDN member who would not have to do this if they didn't want to. I wouldn't expect this member to stay cognizant of production status or to provide those updates to us (I'm assuming he/she has nothing to do with the company making the steel).

In the end, it's just a steelbook. It will come. There are worse things in life than a production delay. And I think when it does arrive, it's going to be spectacular in all its forms.

Zoneism: DUH! Of course we wouldn't be having this debate if there hadn't been a delay.

I didn't mention damage or inferior quality. You said this is a beautiful steelbook, but you can't say that about something you haven't even seen a photo of. All we have is some photoshopped artwork to go on. As for 'the best artwork they can' people were saying as soon as the first pictures appeared that it was just like the play.com release.

Regarding everything else...

When I do business with small companies they invariably provide better service than the large ones. They may do so because they can add a personal touch, or because by doing so they retain customer loyalty. I haven't bought from blufans before so I can only go by their current business practice, which is good. HDZeta, hmmm....the payment must be made by December 5th, and on December 5th they say there's a problem and we'll tell you more when we've fixed it. Astonishing timing...

But I have seen a photo of it, and therefore I can tell you it's beautiful.

I think we've both made our points. No need to carry this on is there mate?

I would like to give a Commodus thumbs down to this release for not only the delay but also the lack of imagination exhibited in the design of this package. We are getting the same artwork on the front of the steel that many of us already have on other steelbooks and it looks like the booklet is the same as the UK digibook which many collectors already have.

I think you didnt know how to hard make an exclusive steelbook with Universal.
They never allow any unoffical design, and told us:you can only choice artwork from our released production......,even the booklet.
that's why kimchi, nova or zavvi almost didnt make the Universal exclusive steelbook,do you understand?

I do understand. Same type of situation that Blufans and others have run into in dealing with the studios/rights owners. But for certain collectors it does not make it any less disappointing, especially at the prices these editions command.

I was thinking of using my airmiles for a trip to Asia; taking in China and Korea. For a moment I thought it would be fun to drop in on Blufans, Kimchidvd and HDZeta. I reckon I'll be there before this steelbook reaches the hubs...

The artwork was on display BEFORE you order it. Why are you surprised? You are getting what You ordered.

Never ordered it because I have the UK steelbook (same art) and I have the UK digibook (basically the same book).
It looks like a great package for people who don't have Gladiator steels or digibooks or for Gladiator completists.
I just don't want to spend that kind of money on rehashes.

And here is my thumbs up to rebuttal yours. This is my first and only ever Gladiator steelbook release. Delays happen, I'm sane about it.

Yes, delays do happen and people are fallible but let's face it, forgetting to put the director's and star's name on the steelbook is a doozy of a mistake.

Okey dokey then... Those of us who ordered are pretty psyched.
