I think everyone clearly agrees on one point; the fairest thing to do in the remaining GB, is that all those from the UK are given priority first, then any remaining slots given out on a first come basis. I know for a fact that no one will disagree with that.

The GB was raised for people to register their intention to purchase and also to commit. At the point it was opened it still wasn't clear what was going to be offered, but a fair guess was made.

Those people who registered should have understood that the offering could have changed but were still under an obligation to purchase via the GB.

This was made very clear in the OP.

Now Nova has announced what's available people have rightly updated their posts to reflect this.

Saying John would not be able to cope is an insult and a disservice to his GBs.
