I actually really like this as a concept. I collect steelbooks because I want something a little bit different from the norm. If I wanted the poster artwork chances are that's what's going on the amaray. I get that people are pissed because it doesn't match the other Marvel titles, or that it doesn't have any title on the front or spine, but that's precisely why I like it; because it's different and quirky and I understand how it connects to the movie. I have lost count of how many times I come on to this forum to hear people grumble that the artwork for a steelbook lacks imagination, and now when we get one that has exactly that, everyone is "why can't we have the poster art?" Don't get me wrong, I would have liked the steelbook if they had used the poster design as that was effective too.

I'm hoping for a gloss finish on the tape cover and debossing/embossing for the front of the case - I reckon that will look awesome.

I bet either Blufans or Kimchidvd are laughing their heads off at the moment! I hope they can come up with something that we all want.

God, this is very disappointing.
I'll keep my order until closer to the release but if they haven't changed the art by then, I will cancel. I don't see why they would change it if it's worldwide art but there's always a chance. Plus as someone who doesn't buy steels from abroad THIS being my only choice is horrific.

When this steel turns up from Zavvi, it's actually going to look like the Walkman I owned so many years ago tucked away in the loft. You see that scuffing, originally added by suppliers.

Joking aside, it's growing on me, I like it.

My initial reaction was 'My God what a piece of garbage.' After a little time, one one hand I'm extremely disappointed given the amazing art they could have used to make this a greatest of all time release. On the other, the coolness factor is growing on me, esp the 'buttons' on the spine. Makes it unique, only people that have seen the movie will know what it is. I can't cancel since I bought another steel at a discount on the same order but now I don't think I would even though I wanted to at first. Hey at least it isn't the logo on the black background.

That said, hopefully someone steps up and produces a GotG steel with epic art.

I am going to have to dig out the Walkman my bro gave me when I was super small-it's black, but this is making me very nostalgic, haha! :headphone:

Does anyone else find it odd that they used this version of the Walkman rather than the one Quill has in the movie? Why bother to model it after a Sony product if they're able to without any rights infringements but not the CORRECT Sony product?

Yup, I pointed it out earlier as well. Don't understand how they can get it so wrong

Your idea of making it look like the Milano tape deck would have been preferable  (even though we have the soundtrack cover that already looks like that)

They might as well now show us the back artwork and inside artwork

I laugh if the back artwork is just plain silver
As it now just hilarious

Still keeping my order anyway as I wanted the Blu ray

You're not the only one.. it looks like the first Walkman I owned back in '85.
It's making me look forward to getting the steel and watching the film again.. out of everything that happened in the film, the main characters relationship with his walkman was strong and important thoughout the entire film lol.. They should add the ost cd to the steelbook as a little extra.. loved it!
