Wasn't you the guy that partitioned HARD to get the wreck it Ralph back artwork changed because you didn't like it?

there's a difference, i didn't demand the entire steelbook be reinvented, i merely suggested they change the back to match the front using 8 bit art. to make the design work as a whole, i didn't throw a fit about not liking the 8bit art style. I merely posted an image saying this would've been better like this.

there's a difference between wanting to contribute to the overall design theme. i simply suggested adding something would make it better...let's face it, it made it better.

look at this guys post from a few pages back.

he's not screaming 'oh i hate it' he's taking the key idea of the design and saying this is how you can improve it. that's the difference, he's trying to contribute . if you guys had accepted they're doing a walkman themed cover, and contributed ways to improve the idea, maybe they could've done that.

Your posts are very egotistical and condescending. Seems like you're on a mission to belittle anyone who dares not like the current artwork, no need for it.

The artwork you've quoted would have been much better, and more widely accepted

This is only your opinion.

I didn't want the change as I preferred the original design and dispute your statement that it was made better by the change.

There's nothing wrong with anyone liking this art, that's personal choice.

Personally, I'm not keen. I admit I'm not too happy with the Walkman choice in the first place, I'd rather one of the posters or some other image of the actual Guardians of the Galaxy. After all, that is what the movie is called. In the UK we're used to not having titles on Marvel Steelbooks, it's the norm, and while I don't like that either I've accepted it. Thor: TDW at least has Thor on it, Captain America: TWS at least has Cap on it. GotG does not have the GotG on it (not on the front at least).

That said, as Disney insisted on going down the Walkman route (which they have), it was a strange move. They can't even use the Walkman design, logo or name. Instead of at the very least getting Peter Quill's Walkman (in steelbook form), we get a generic tape player. To me, that would be like releasing Batman the Move, but instead of putting the '66 Batmobile on the cover, having a black Cadillac with some red stripes on the hood. Basically Disney have come up with a design to which they can't use any of the associated images to do it. Oh, and putting skip buttons rather than FF/RW is just technically wrong no matter how you look at it.

If the importance is just the Awesome Mix tape as some are saying then fine, drop the whole Walkman design and just make the Steelbook look like the tape. Problem solved.

I have no idea why people are getting all rialed up over a steelbook, you dont have to buy it, im not a fan of the art but if it comes with a nice marvel slip like cap 2 i will be satisfied, take a chill pill and please remember steelbooks and their artwork are not the most important thing in the world to fight over.

Relax.

It's a steelbook forum, you should expect such things and also be a bit more tolerant towards everyones opinions.

Unless everyone that hates this does an organised cancel day, where we all cancel together nothing will happen, and by that I mean tell the truth and REALLY cancel. A few have already mentioned that many like to moan but in the end will still keep their orders.

Marvel have been tweeting that this has sold out, so to them this is a major success already.

97 odd pages and very few seem to have mentioned the price! This lump of absolute garbage is £25!!! I've seen folks have bigger hissy fits on steels with reasonable art that were £10 cheaper "me included", yet not many have picked up on the fact that this art isn't even worth a tenner at best, and while it might be "Marvel",like the IM3 steel which also had a bad front and poor finish it will be cheaper than cost fairly quickly after launch. It's seen around 90% utter hatred across the net for it's art choice yet in the end the vast majority will sit happily as their backbones soften, scared they will miss out on something.

Have some courage people, this is overpriced and just bad! Only way change will happen is by bombarding Marvels sites on mass, organised polls, and most important of all don't give them your money ;)

As for all the personal attacks that seem to be flying around here of late, I think some need to stop following the Travolta guide to ego! People are entitled to their opinions, don't like it then that's your problem, there's no need for snidey comments just because you think differently. :D

There was nothing in my post that was against peoples opinions, if they dont like it thats fine and if they do its fine, my point which you obviously missed is stop fighting with each other, not worth it over a piece of metal.

I love the design personally and I'm keeping my order in ;-). I'm looking forward to seeing it in hand and watching the awesome film again.

Everybody has a choice! If you don't like a steel design and you feel strongly about it, then dont buy it, simples!! Plus there maybe other countries that have different designs that maybe more to your tastes?

I think at this point it's clear that there'll be no alternative artwork anywhere, not unless it gets a re-release somewhere down the line like Thor and Captain America.

For those wanting steelbooks for the MU movies, then this design is the only option. Cancelling is unlikely, as it's the lesser of 2 evils (for those like me who are unhappy). Either a steelbook you're not too keen on (but means your MU collection is complete), or an amaray with superior artwork that isn't (obviously) a steelbook, thus altering the collection.

For me, it's not just the poor design (IMO) for this film, it's a culmination of Disney's attitude to their steelbooks and Blu-rays in general. Less features than many US editions, DVDs dropped from releases (yes, I still watch DVDs) and their taking the cheapest option whenever possible. Removing titles from steelbooks was just the first step, meaning for those of us (in the UK) who collect Marvel steelbooks or Disney/Pixar classics means that titles like Frozen, Monsters University, Avengers Assemble, Thor: TDW and CA: TWS no longer match collections we've spent a lot of money amassing.

Just wait to see what horrors Star Wars Episode VII unleashes when Disney give it the steelbook treatment. Dozens of no doubt amazing posters will be ignored in favour of an X-Wing cockpit or a Death Star trench (with no title, obviously).

It seems like it's time for your to sell your marvel steels. It doesn't seem like you enjoy collecting them anymore if a missing title or lack of dvd is ruining your steelbook collection. What do you think?

I have cut down a tremendous amount on my purchases.

Like anything, I enjoy getting a great looking steelbook, with a nice finish and a disc packed with special features, and am disappointed by others. I'm allowed to be disappointed I assume? Nothing I've said regarding GotG is unreasonable as far as I can tell.

Disney do seem to annoy a few of their customers, more so than a lot of other studios. Not just because of errors and the like, but they way they deal with them...

An edit to Avengers Assemble which they lied about before ending up on BBC's Watchdog
Flickering to Tarzan which they denied before issuing replacements which were better but not actually fixed
Scenes swapped in The Little Mermaid which was ignored
Dropping special features constantly

So, you'll forgive me if at times, I do get disappointed with some of their releases.
