its pre-orders ... and a buyer just has to hope that after 45 day window the seller makes due once past paypal window.

This...100% agreed. You're the :mos: of this thread. A beacon of sense in these dark times

most of the people who are moaning bout this design either
A) Haven't actually seen the film
B) Don't understand the significance of the walkman, something that is sewn throughout the entirety of the film.
A) I have seen the film and love it. The soundtrack is, as the label suggests, "Awesome". I actually bought it.
B) The walkman is massive significance to StarLord and the movie as a whole really.

What pisses me off though is the look of the steel. They have not got the tape correct. Label is different and the ink is black instead of blue and the rest... neither looks like a walkman, or the tapedeck in the film. If you can't get something as simple as that correct, (nevermind if there is copyright laws or whatever) then don't do it at all. I could forgive the inside art being like this, but not the outside

I've just started collecting marvel steelbooks and I have to say I'm pretty disappointed in the art work for this steelbook but I will still purchase it and hopefully it will grow on me. Does anyone know if the TW or JP version will be different?

I'd say it's unlikely. Previous Marvel steels have been the same artwork. I'd steer well clear of JP Marvel releases at the moment. They just shrink wrap a one disc (albeit 3D disc) steel to an amaray.

Because GREED and ARROGANCE are what Disney is all about these days.

Despite so many hatred comments towards this artwork, i still saw it got sold at $96 on ebay, the seller got 3 copies and all 3 got sold. Well, i guess some people did really like it.

For every choice of art there are haters and there are lovers.
If they had choosen a movieposter...---> Disney is lazy, why not something different

Sure Disney could think "we gonna put a ugly steel on the market, people are willing to pay for €30 or $35". I don't think that it works that way.

And even with a "ugly" steel (I personaly like the steelbook) resellers on e-bay get almost 3 times the original price (who's greedy??)

Oh wow I'm feeling in a right minority in liking this one.

Infact I'm kinda getting put off. A quick google previously brought this up:

As Star-Lord's walkman. So I thought, yeah, they've done a good job of recreating it minus copyright issues...and as a fully paid up member of the Walkman generation it was kinda cool.

But it's not that model, they've chosen the wrong one.

I still like the concept - the idea that the Walkman, the music all encapsulate our main hero and the irreverent tone of the movie (not saying a steelie with Groot & Raccoon on it wouldn't rock too) but it's a little lazy. Surely it wouldn't have taken the designer long to get it correct?

An odd sense of disquiet growing...but there's no other way of keeping the Marvel steelbook collection intact at this point anyway.

I rarely see that complaint when the original poster artwork is used, which seems rare anyway. In this case everyone is clamoring for the poster(s), because there are so many great ones. I feel that poster art is often much better than video art, like they're allowed to be creative whereas home video art often looks like a 10-minute Photoshop job.

Yes, the design(front/back) of the steelbook could have been much better, I would have prefered the black version, but this seems to be the final artwork
but more import to me, will it be available again or all 5000 copies already sold out?
I want one , this movie is great !

As it stands it's the only way to keep the Marvel Phase 2 complete.
Unfortunately, your totally correct. On the group buy on the Future Shop version, might just keep the steel in the slip as at least that will have the title on the spine (I hope) even if the steelbook doesn't.
Hoping somewhere down the line this gets picked up again and we get a generic amaray art steelbook (as happened with Thor & Captain America)
