I love it, i knew i would love this one from the get go :)

I love it too.. i'm more excited about getting this one than blufans cos they really messed up the back not working with the front and spine artwork. I'm hoping this has a more quality feel to the steelbook unlike the wwa Dr strange, I didn't really like the artwork for zavvi's first release of ant-man but the steel felt solid and the debossing etc was very well done. Anyway, very much looking forward to this release:)

I hate the original anman steel, and the original guardians, age of ultron etc... None had spine titles and it bugged the crap out of me.

This however i like, shame about the blufans version as i have the original Guardians blufans and would have been nice to have a matching set but this will do for now :)

I didn't like the original ant man either but it felt and looked like quality.. shame about the art work.. I was hoping for the same quality for this release. I recently sold both of zavvi's ant man steels I had cos I picked up the blufans one a couple of months ago.

Same here, I have the blufans gotg DL and I did want vol. 2 to match it but that back art will take some getting used to, it reminds me of the zavvi steels for toy story 2 & 3, brave etc

Where they forgot to fill in the rest of the artwork:rofl:. Blufans front artwork is perfect to match the first release but this edition works/flows perfectly front to back:joy:

What's not to like (unless you're one of those that always insist on original poster design artwork).

Is that 'bossing to the rivets and to the button and square plate behind ? .. . . 'bossing just to the "DO NOT PUSH!" warning on that wraparound spot glossed 'sticker'?

Anyway, very acceptable companion piece to Vol.1 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- and #1 goes even better with one of those useful magnetic spine stickers.

Pretty lame what they are doing as far as giving the Dolby Vision edition only for those who pay for the digital download. I always thought that the people who bought the physical disc were supposed to get the best of the format. I guess they want to get people to stop buying discs and go digital download only. People are not going to go out and buy both. No way will they be able to support paying $60 per film so they can get the inferior HDR and the digital download with Dolby Vision. This is only going to hurt the market even more IMO.

HDR 10 is fine with me, DV is ok but its kind of pointless without 12bit panel TV's and none exsist at the moment.

Im sticking with the 3D versions for a while anyhow as 4K is still hit or miss where as 3D is usually guranteed enjoyment.

That's really disappointing if no DV is true, I also read the film isn't even a true 4K release

According to IMDb:
Negative Format: Redcode RAW
Cinematographic Process: Digital Intermediate (2K) (master format), Dolby Vision, Redcode RAW (8K) (source format)

I'm not sure if it was completely filmed in 8K, then mastered for cinema in 2K or what, and if so, is the 4K UHD a different master from an 8K source?
Probably best to ask James Gunn himself online, he's pretty active.

Above article says it was filmed in 8K.

The pictures confirm more how lazy this artwork is. I get the idea but the execution isn't the best. Photoshoping Groot onto a random box with a button which didn't appear as it in the movie. Even the way the duct tape continues on the back isn't correct. On the back, the duct tape should have continued downwards, not upwards, if the front is already inclined that way.

Just a quick look into the 'custom art' thread shows you how awesome this one could have been.

Cancelled this today, more I see it the more I hate it. Sticking with Blufans which kills this completely. Really wish Disney would go back to the quality of the Phase One steels

This steel is a total turkey, as mentioned it's not even well executed, I would say more poorly implemented than the Walkman for Vol.1.

As mentioned, the tape doesn't match the flow onto the rear of the steel, lazily designed and (getting pedantic I know) but didn't Rocket ask for some tape to go "over the button" so Groot couldn't push it, not tape and a pen so he could write him a note?!....

Said it before, looks like the cover of a children's story book, not a limited edition physical media for an adult.

I'll stick with this release since it's the only 4K steelbook and looks better than anything else I have seen! :)

Are those spine stickers something you buy and then print onto?
