Behave, it wasn't until recently that the UK Marvel steels had the film title on the side.
They were just international (non North American) editions with an English J Card.

Erm nope, the original phase one steels "the grails" had titles on the spine "all of them" IM1, IM2, Thor, and Cap 1 all had spine titles. Even the recent ones that don't often fetch higher prices than any other. Cap 2 with pic spine is worth far more than the Canadian with. US/Canadian steels with title even now aren't worth as much, do some research! US and Canadian steels on the international market sell for not much more than original cost where as UK versions sell for double

People can believe what they want but the evidence is there for all to see, when it comes to the original bare bones Marvel steels, the ones that really matter are the UK versions, it been said time and again, facts are facts. This steel is pants but expect sales of £50 and above pretty much straight away. US and Canadian versions expect cost price

I think it's because the majority of the Brits don't want to buy outside their country for whatever strange reason and so the high secondary market prices are mainly down to patriotic Brits who missed out first time around but won't import for fear of foreign languages or subs.

Personally I think those people deserve to pay triple the price for an English language J-card!
Lately I now tend to avoid certain countries products where possible for political reasons. For instance China, which rules out for me a large well known collecting base.

We all have our own motivations.

UK all the way for me, mainly.

Sad fact is that this editon is absolute garbage, and anyone that thinks this is good is clearly a complete idiot BUT this is GOTG2 and its the UK edition which = THE most collectable version. No one cares about US or Asian versions, they might be Very nice, but bottom line the UK version is THE one to own as the UK is THE steelbook kings, and rightly so! Its taken decades for the UK to get a collectable that is superior regardless of art and this is THE version to own. Yanks that wanna moan feel free to speak to me and I'll remind you IN DETAIL of the 35 years of collecting US superior versions before the days of the internet on films and music, your days are over and it was about time you got taught a lesson. Bad art YEP! but the version to own YES! UK steels accept no substitite.
Yes! Yes! I am a complete idiot! I am one of those people who actually like this edition. I prefer this edition over the asian ones (like blufans).

There's no one truth here. With a lot of things (like art, music, movies) people have different taste. You can't change that and never will. It also does not change by writing it down in a very agressive way like you do: saying everybody is an idiot by thinking that.

For some steelbooks I (also) wanted to have the US version. Ghost in the Shell for example, it has a glossy finish. The UK version (or should I say the European version, since it's not unique for the UK) has an embossed title, but matte finish.
So in my opinion it's the US version to own and I don't care what the market is dictating. I have ordered it anyway.

I just wanted to reply to say I obviously agree with you.
If you're going to buy a steelbook, you might as well buy the one that you want if you can get it!

What possible political reason could you have for not collecting Blufans?

Jeez, it's a steelbook. No wonder we can't achieve world peace!!!

Just look at the secondary market which is where limited editions thrive, UK versions are the versions to own for Marvel bare steels. Laugh all you want I'm right, I'm ALWAYS right

Umm okay....

Oh wait Stevo is that you in disguise? :p

Laugh all you want I'm right, I'm ALWAYS right

Regarding the We Are X Mondo X Steelbook:
"I'm not always right you know lol, but this looked like a sure fire sell out judging by the metal communities comments..... Plus I cancelled it near its release lol"

I'm so confused.

OK I'm convinced! Where can I buy the 4K/3D/2D UK steelbook version?

Certainly got you all talking :rofl::D

Finally you passed the sobriety test with flying colours lol :) 70% of the UK MCU still are going for silly money which is a fact no matter how bad they are. Sadly I have become super selective. I passed on this in favour of the US Steelbook which has all the 3 discs.

Oh you know I love full gloss, so Blufans all the way although they screwed the back art big time.

Avengers was the first with the faces I believe, which was also the first Disney handled release to if I recall (Disney distrubution)

that said, this artwork is horrid (and am usually a fan of the WWA)
Too much focus on baby Groot

Ironically,Zavvi "conveniently" refuse to take off the VAT for sales outside of the EU - Bloody cheek ;-)

Its a tricky situation. If Zavvi operated like HMV then price for UK consumers will be much lower. If they operated like Play.com, it can be even more less for UK customers but due to closing down of the VAT loophole, they probably had no other choice but to make some adjustments by keeping the price uniform to everyone.

How about asking Canadian retailers to ship overseas for cheap?

It's also not doing that for EU countries, but it depends where they're shipping from.
If they ship from Guernsey you have to pay a custom fee. I was actually surprised until I called the customs office overhere asking why I need to pay a custom fee for something from the UK. They told me there's an exception for certain islands.
Great!!!

What VAT loophole ? Amazon in Europe does not charge VAT on non EU purchases ?

I don't speak for Canadian retailers, but I do know that UK/EU VAT is not supposed to be added on for non EU sales.

I'm pretty sure that there would be some sort of increase (possibly noticeable) in their international shipping costs if they would sell at VATless prices to customers outside UK.

They choose to present low shipping costs and same prices as for their UK customers.

Nothing wrong with that, it's completely their choice. Swings and roundabouts.

Personally, I'd prefer transparency and have 20% lower international prices while accepting corresponding higher shipping costs. It still doesn't necessarily follow that the total cost of my items would be lower than what it is today.

But hey, it's an optimization problem that a mail order retailer need to solve. Customers like low shipping costs, but the retailer still needs to pay something to the carrier (with big mail order companies it's obviously nowhere near consumer rates, though). The carrier also needs to survive, preferably even be profitable, with the income they get.
