I notice people wernt complaining about the back of Rogue One, with its poster artwork of a scene that failed to make it into the movie ....................

I like this back art but you can't compare it in comparison to no complaints about the rogue one back art

The art looks and flows better on that as a whole

Whereas this is a bit more stand out for being misfit

Well the front is just on all the characters,. and they were all in the film, in space, clearly reflecting the movie.
Groot with a match and a ton of dynamite however, was never in the movie nor was it ever reflected in the movie or has any place in the movie either for that matter. So the backside makes no sense at all, except for Groot not being so smart, which they could have illustrated much better.

Everything you see in the front cover you see within the film.

The back art has something which isn't in the film and hell doesn't even belong in it...I mean what do they think it is? A western? It's like having a Lord of the Rings steelbook and seeing Gollum on the back sit on a rock shaped like an atom bomb. You'd be like "what...the....fudge".

True, but people are complaining that it's not in the movie too.

Yeah that's stupid

Most movie posters aren't in the movie lol. Some are and some aren't. And some are clever for example the colossal poster with the wiggly monster head you would find in the 90s on a finger

I don't ever remember seeing a scene like a Star Wars posters with little and large characters collated lol and people are happy with those on steel (myself included)

Really? I'm pretty sure I don't remember Star Lord holding his walkman aloft whilst firing his gun using his other hand with Baby Groot standing on his shoulder.

It's just a movie poster

It shows them acting as a team going into a battle whereas the back kinda has no significance to the film although I still like it.

The poster was probably designed just to show groots childlile simpleness like he is in the film and don't know right from wrong (and health and safety)

I would like to know out of curiosity why it was so easy (and quick) to change the Star Wars FA steel due to feedback but this is a non mover. You're dealing with Disney in both cases no?

Both Disney but different "departments" or however you word it. Like Pixar is Disney but still different and its own studio

But it was weird and my take on that was they had both approved and used the worst art as a test. Or they thought it was great but knew it would cause a stir and had the other on backup. Disney Star Wars could of had 2 they approved for them and after the stir up BF had to quickly let them know it's changing to the alternative art

I meant the items/characters in the poster. The poses they are doing is just typical poster stuff...looking too far into it.

You don't see Starlord holding a revolver or Groot wearing an adorable pink dress do you.

I'm well aware it's just a poster (as is the back art), I was replying to the part of the post that said "Everything you see in the front cover you see within the film" ie the bit that I quoted. The ninja that posted was saying that the front image is made up from stills from the film put together to form a whole image of the team in action. I was pointing out that this is incorrect.

Yes I agree the rear art is to show Baby Groots childlike simpleness but there isn't a single image in the film that portrays this as the parts showing this in the film are all done as scenes, so the original movie poster had to be something that put that idea across for people that hadn't seen the film(as the poster was obviously out before the film).

@jcm I know nothing is perfect (and I am aware of that Photoshop mistake). But there are still artworks that are closer to perfection, some are less. Don't you agree? ;)

I'm not saying the the mock-up of the second steelbook is bad. But that consistency of the first one just workes better (for me).
