For this very special release, Anchor Bay went back to the vaults to present this legendary terror classic as never before, including creating an all-new HD transfer personally supervised by the film's original cinematographer, Academy-Award® nominee Dean Cundey (Who Framed Roger Rabbit, Apollo 13, the Back to the Future trilogy), a new 7.1 audio mix (as well as the original mono audio), a brand-new feature length audio commentary by writer/director John Carpenter and star Jamie Lee Curtis, an all-new bonus feature with Ms. Curtis, as well as selected legacy bonus features from previous ABE releases. Available in a collectible limited-edition steelbook package.

I still own the Criterion laser disc with all theTV footage, you had to mess about with the play order to integrate it. Seamless branching was unheard of.

Sadly the previously unseen footage that turned up a couple of years ago won't be on the new BD. It was bought at auction but the gentleman that owns it couldn't come to terms with the producers for it's inclusion.

Just read the review for this over at a certain rival Blu Ray site. Looks like this will be the best release of Halloween yet on home video.

Color timing has changed most noticeably as seen in some of the comparison shots below.

Top Screens are from the New 35th Anniversary Edition - Bottom Screens are from original Blu Ray release.

I just bough the American digibook. While it's artwork is amazing, it's very thin. I think I'll have to double dip and get the steel aswell.
Yeah, the digi looks good, but it's so thin/flimsy that every copy I've seen is smooshed or bent at the spine and/or corners. I plan to swap the new U.S. disc into this, and, if for some weird reason this steel is 2 discs as Amazon says (highly unlikely), I can add my TV version DVD that will otherwise be homeless.
