never denied that...she has sold a lot. but so has mcdonalds.

I'll promise, if/when se wins nobel literature prize, or booker I'll read her book.

agree.

will hang on a little while more this evening, tonight ... after that visit briefly just to check out new PA/FAC information and possible GBs.

:meh:

Why come into this thread at all then if you regard them as 'kids film's' and you don't like them?

Maybe just stick to the FAC threads and you won't antagonise those of us who do love these films........

Personally, if I don't like a movie I don't usually bother going into the thread to be a Captain Buzzkill for everyone else!

I'll post a negative opinion on artwork or design or something, yes of course. We all do. But it's only because I'm passionate about that particular movie or steelbook.

This is a steelbook thread anyway, not a movie forum. There are seperate threads for that.

Anyway, back to the steelbooks. I'd love to have the Harry Potters in Steelbook because I love the series. At the minute, I don't like these UK designs at all. But if they end up with the French artworks and with the English titles, they will become a lot more desirable. Would have to have a price drop first though.

mods and such. like I said. I'll ease up. this is my final say on this.

I too post out of passion. I'm passionated about this getting AGAIN steel release while so many excellent films have none.

there never is a good thread to post negative things. always one gets 'why post if' - replies .... and so on. I have not critized potter films. now I did it. it's my humble opinion. nothing to get fuzzed about. I'm no auteur nor guru.

lets move on ...

Criticism of the films is one thing-saying that since you are a "grown man" and therefore don't watch kid movies insults everyone else that likes the films (millions of adults and kids alike). There is a way to disagree and state your opinion without insulting people. If you feel you can't do that, please pm me. Thanks.

I'll never forget how truly enchanting I thought this film was when I saw it in the cinema. I just fell in love with the characters instantly and loved each film which came after. It really is incredible
to make so many sequels and each one be as unique and and frankly full of magic that they all are. Yes there has been similar things but nothing exactlu like Harry Potter and I think that why people get drawn into buying multiple versions and just want another price of the wonderful Harry Potter universe.

I wonder if these steelbooks will have any new extras?

Let's please get back to discussing the steelbook. Thanks.

HMV steelbooks are a cop out . Cash cow milk people for as much as the Studio can .

The French is Screaming Harry Potter . That is the ones I would jump for .

Nothing at all to do with the French text stopping me from having each and every one of them .

It IS the rushed Battle as I have stated already the novel has so so, much more on each and every level .

That is why as a writer Rowling is so amazing . @Apollon See I find it hard to discuss the steelbook as the whole potterverse is so interlinked with each other .

Look as a child and the House Elf is a fun mythical creature . As an Adult that very same House Elf echoes the cryes of freedom from oppression .

It would be such a boring world if we all liked or saw the same thing . A world I would not like to live in .

Considering the announcement on Pottermore of the "Moments" artwork & the "Iconic" artwork (which is used on the French steels), I'd imagine the HMV ones will run the same artwork. There's no mention of these covers anywhere & it would be strange to create WEA just for the HMV line. I can see the art being updated soon to show the "Iconic" artwork with the titles in english.

Oh, I see how it works . . . first we get an *FPO image for X-MEN: APOCALYPSE which becomes the real (and inferior, imo) artwork - and yes I know it's not the first time this has happened . . .

*"The purpose of stamping or watermarking "FPO" prominently over the image is to prevent the low-res image from being mistakenly kept in the final output. It also prevents the accidental inclusion of copyrighted images if the designers used an image whose use for which they do not have the rights as a placeholder. The watermark makes the image's not-final status egregiously obvious, whereas without the mark it would be subtler and easier to miss. This reduces the risk that production staff will forget to replace it with the final image. RARELY, AN FPO IMAGE MAKES IT INTO PRINT, usually because the production staff was overly rushed."

Now it seems we are not getting the artwork pictured even though there is nowhere to be seen "Artwork To Be Confirmed" or "Creative Not Final" on or near the picture! and we are reportedly to be deprived of a lovely matching artwork set only for it to be replaced with something completely different and thankfully not similar to the U.S./Canada "big head" steelbooks.

I've got to admit that the artwork seen on the French mock-ups is as good as or better than the artwork on ours and I would personally buy either of the two sets and don't really mind which set we get here in the U.K.
If I had to choose, though, I'd probably go for the "French" set as, with what appears to be a framing border, embossed titles should be a definite and I can see these in a gloss finish which would suit the artwork perfectly.

Although both sets look nice, I will pass. 'Cause if you buy one, you must buy the other seven, too. And even if the price goes down to 12~14 GPB each, it's still about 100 GPB in total.
Too much money for catalogue titles for me...

The good thing of these sets: there won't be a new Harry Potter (for the time being), which may not match.

Unless The Cursed Child is so successful that they make it in to a movie. But still, that (along with Fantastic Beasts & Where to Find Them) is separate enough to the main story that different covers that don't match these 8 won't matter.

With the announcement of the German set with German titles I think the steelbooks will be nothing special! No embossing and less effort put in I guess as these will have a large print run :(

I would buy the French if not for the French titles. I didn't like them at first - but if executed correctly they could be nice. But, will there really be no version of the those covers with English titles?! That is a real shame. And only the heartiest of HP collectiors will get both the French and UK collections.
The prices are also out of whack for being catalog titles.

It's unbelievable how many releases of these films already and then even steelbooks and now steelbooks in UK/Germany/France and more ordinary amaray sets and individuals I love them as much as the next person but really did we need soooo many re-releases...

Are they going to have any new extras or anything?

These have never been released as steelbook editions in the UK, so the Exclusive features in this case is the packaging ;)

I didn't say steelbooks had been released in UK ;)

Bit expensive feature pay £160 for films everyone owns and can be bought for £10 on bluray for the boxset. Yes steels are different many a film I've bought on steelbook for £20 that can be bought even for a few pounds it's what we do.
However I think this is over saturation, OK steelbooks but amaray again...

I love the films but this is squeeeeezzzziinnnggg it... Lol
