Also got stung with a customs charge, won't be able to pick it up until Monday so don't know if it's labelled as requested or not. At least I'm not alone. Might be nice if there was an option to pay import charges up front as when it's not possible there's no choice but to play Russian roulette. As with most others it's the £8 that stings rather than paying the VAT. :(

Actually, what you're saying is incorrect. The only thing that gets waived is Customs Duty, if the amount of the Duty comes to £9 or less. However, since Customs Duty is only levied on goods exceeding a value of £135, it's unlikely to be relevant in this case.

Import VAT is different. It's liable where the value of the goods exceeds £15. It doesn't matter by how much that value is exceeded. Even if the value is £15.01 then VAT can be lawfully levied. It's not like speeding where the police allow a margin of 10% + 2. Whilst some countries such as Germany don't bother imposing the charge, if it's below a certain value, that is not the case with the UK.

Also, although we tend to blame Customs when we get hit, it's the carrier that is responsible for examining the package and levying the charges on their behalf. With handling fees ranging from £8 (Royal Mail) to £13.50 (Parcel Force), there's an incentive for them to surcharge everything they can!

That's just what I was told at my post office, shows how much they know :p

Did you, by any chance, order both Full Slip and Lenticular because that would make more sense of the arithmetic? Given a price of $34.99 each, the combined price would amount to $69.98. Once you factor in shipping costs of $10.81 that would bring the total up to $80.79.

It might just be a coincidence that the values equate but it looks as though the declared value of your package is for both slips plus shipping, in which case there has apparently been no undervaluing at all. I'll be interested to know if that is the case.

You know what, I'd actually forgotten but I ordered the Cube lenticular blu ray with this aswell, taking the price to $80.56, meaning Kimchi must have put the ACTUAL price of the items on the box or on the invoice - this is something I have never asked them to do and I'm close to 100% sure I didn't make a mistake during the checkout this time. But I'll get this on Monday and see. But yeah, your maths is correct. :D

I got £11.11 customs as well, even though I asked Kimchi as I always do to set it at$19 merchandise and mark original invoice and package with this value it was marked as $25 value before shipping :( and £3:11 vat plus £8 handling :(

Guys if anyone like me have been hit with customs charge and u are going to contact tony/kimchi , ur wasting ur time it happened to me on my 1st ever buy from them even though I put $19 and merchandise I got hit with a charge and the seal on the steel book had been opened I contacted tony and he was not budging on it so when to PayPal to put in a claim to get the £11.11 back and that didn't work , so I would recomend not to waste ur time because it's just a chance we take when buying abroad.

So my tracking for this updated on 11/09 saying that it arrived in Chicago (I live in Illinois) and today it updated saying that it arrived in New York! [emoji31] Any of you guys know why something ridiculous like that would happen?

Like many in the UK, I got hit with the £11+ customs charges (which mostly the Post Office handling fee!), and in fact nearly all my Kimchidvd packages get hit with charges now for some reason. For me it's just something to factor in to Kimchi purchases going forward. (Although my K-steelbook shipments at the same value aren't being hit, strangely.)

Happy with the products though - that lenticular is just sweet!

I think all UK customers got hit, I did too, as orezlyrad said, it's a shame Kinchi cannot charge customs in advance, I know Amazon.com do so at least you won't get hit with the extra £8.00 from the post office
I asked Kimchi to mark my package for $19.00 but they marked it at $25.00 and I don't think customs even opened it
I guess it's just something extra to factor in when deciding weather to buy from Kimchi in future
Nice full slip though non the less

I live in Northeast indiana...one of my recent orders from Korea scanned in Chicago then in St Paul Minnesota. It ended up being delivered ok but some times they get put on the wrong truck. As long as your email receipt has your correct address, it should make its way to you.

Disappointed with the quality of my delivered steel. Slip case not glued properly at joints, scratches on steel and imperfections in the paintwork in the steel, looks like discoloured spots in at least four places. Slowly falling out with Kimchi. We pay for a premium product but this does not feel like it, I understand there are always exceptions but I am sure given the paint imperfections that it was a printing issue and not limited to my steel only. Will seriously consider prior to purchasing their next steel.

Must admit they haven't impressed me since Leon came out. They are getting destroyed by Nova and Blufans when it comes to exclusive products, and with Futureshops up and coming Monday collection that knocks them down to 4th place.
