I've never heard of that but I think the problem here may be if Kimchi have not included the invoice inside anyone's box. I've been charged £18 so I've no idea where they've pulled that figure from if the parcel was marked with $25.
If the parcel was marked as $25, then you'd be liable to pay £4.65 VAT, then there would be another £8 on top of that for Royal Mail's 'handling fee', which would mean you should have paid £12.65.

As that's £5.35 off, my guess is customs included some of the cost of the shipping in the item value too, it may not have been marked down at all (in addition to adding shipping costs), or they just took a guess at what it cost and overcharged.

FYI: The Duty Calculator website is useful for working these sort of things out. HMRC/customs currently use a value of 1 GBP = 1.61 USD at the moment.
My only fear with challenging it is that they'll probably ask for actual proof of the items value, which would be worse.
If you try to contest it, both HRMC and Royal Mail will definitely require proof that they got it wrong.

Got an answer from Tony who said that an empty Steelbook of "Her" will be shipped to me along with my next order, which means with Dallas Buyer club.

Can't wait to get them. And big Thanks to Tony and Kimchidvd.
I'm glad you got it resolved axcraig!

My other couple of experiences with UK customs, and from comments on here, would suggest their maths is very random when working it out, they seem all over the place most of the time. Yeah I guess so, it could work out worse. If you want to hold on when I inevitability get my customs invoice (but hope not) I will call up and see what they do, then you know if it's worth just taking it on the chin or not...

Could you not use the online invoice/purchase email. I always tick so that the email shows the price I marked it down too. Could that work as proof?

Any "Thank you for your order.( kimchidvd.com )" emails I've received have always shown the full value on, likewise all orders shown under my account on the KimchiDVD website always show the full value on too.

The only thing changing the customs value on the website does is ask them to mark the actual postage label on the parcel with a different customs value.
So unless you've been receiving an email I haven't, no.

Plus, customs could just look up the price of the item on the website - they're still listed even after it's sold out.

Unfortunately customs is just something we have to deal with when importing steelbooks. So far, I've only had the one customs charge and I just took it on the chin. Still worked out cheaper than buying from eBay or like in the end.

I am getting a bit worried now. Last scan was on November 4th and it hasn't scanned in US yet. Says departed via flight PO214 on 4th :(
Don't worry. My last scan was on November 4th too. And two days ago I got it without a trackible scan in Germany.[emoji2]

Well, I haven't gotten mine either and had to file a PayPal dispute. They give you only 45 days and that's up tomorrow or the next day.

Seems odd that a certain plane would lead to steels not being scanned in multiple countries since they need to go through customs and work their way through postal services as well.

Everyone else whose gotten theirs normally were not shipped on this PO214 flight.

It can sometimes take a month. K-Packet shipping is unpredictable. I have had kimchi orders delivered in 8 days, but my rush steelbook order back in July took 1 month. Keep checking back at your tracking on USPS. Korean Post doesn't track when it reaches the destination country (at least i have never seen it do so with my orders).

Also haven't gotten mine yet.

My orders have always tracked. Right into customs, out of customs and all the way to my home address.

A big factor here is PayPal. They give you only 45 days, so if this turns out to me more than just a wacky mishap that delayed delivery and scanning, I am not protected at all after the next 2 days.

They won't care that I paid on October 1st and the item didn't ship until November 3rd. They'll just count that as 33 or so of my 45 days.

I think we should be able to store our credit card info so we can get through their unpredictable checkout process quicker and without using PayPal as the quickest way. My credit cards would have given me more time to wait for a problem like this.

I don't think you'll need to go through Paypal... i've always experienced a really good after-sales service from kimchidvd and i'm pretty sure you'd be totally refunded by Tony

Mine is still tracked on a flight (AY042), let's just wait and don't be paranoid ;)

My lenti edition steelbook has an irritating scratch on the front. I have sent Tony an email asking if he could replace the steelbook much like he is doing for another ninja on here. I too have ordered DBC and hoped he might send it along with that as well. Do you think it makes a difference that I bought my lenti from eBay and not direct from Kimchi?

I'd be very surprised if you got a replacement after buying it from eBay, surely that's the sellers problem, as steelbooks don't have warranties from the distributor. I guess you never know though.

It was sealed, so how could it be the sellers issue? I still purchased it, just not directly. I understand that it's a grey area.

I don't think it is a grey area. Kimchi didn't sell you the Steelbook therefore they are not responsible.

I am not sure I understand that logic. They are responsible. All I am doing is cutting out the middle man here.

What's the difference if the email comes from me or the eBay seller? They surely have to deal with it in the same manner?

Lol, What's not to understand? @snooloui could not of been more clearer! There is no way kimchi will replace it, or any other retailer that was originally selling the product. you bought it from eBay so it now has nothing to do with kimchi.
fair dos you can try to get the seller to sort it out but apart from that it's down to the eBay seller to refund you a partial refund or send it back to the seller for a refund.
If I ever have a problem with an item from a seller on eBay which is common then I take it up with them. You never know the seller might be ****** and not respond and in that case you open a case and depending on ebays investigation will either refund you or not.

What If it was an item like life of pi with the lenticular that was sold by multiple retailers at the time and you bought it from an eBay seller and it arrived damaged. what retailer would you contact to change it ?(if it wasn't completly sold out everywhere). Or someting like man of steel or Enders game, would you walk into HMV and ask to swap it? They would laugh

Don't mean to sound rude but your response made me laugh

Not sure who you purchased from Meth Head, but if perchance it was Wooridvd or Weagein you should have no trouble in working something out to suit you - both are very reliable sellers. =)
