Steelbook & Collecting FAQ's:

Q: Where can I find a list of Steelbooks released?

A: blu-raysteelbooks.com

Q: Can I play movies contained inside Steelbooks on my Blu-Ray Player?

A: It depends-Blu-Rays are coded with Region A, B or C. Most Blu-Rays are "unlocked", regardless of what region they are, but it's always a good idea to check this forum or web resources before buying, as some are "locked".

Q: What are the differences between Steelbooks™, Iron Packs™, Metal Paks™, Viva Metal Boxes, Tins, etc?

A: Check out pics and discussion in our forum here

Q: What does "G1" and "G2" mean when discussing Steelbooks?

A: "G1" (1st Generation) refers to a Blu-Ray in a DVD-sized case. And "G2" (2nd Generation) refers to a Blu-Ray in a Blu-Ray-sized case.

Q: How to fix a loose disc on a steelbook you want to keep factory sealed that came with a floater?

A: Fixing a loose disc

Q: How do I navigate international shopping sites?

A: You can download a free 'add on' for most browsers called 'Google Translate'. Once you have it installed, the pages will translate automatically.

Q: I have many more questions-is there a general list of links to help me learn about Steelbooks, protecting them, etc?

A: Yes, here

Not to mention that on a car you are blending a single color of paint to cover a scratch where a SB obviousely has multiple colors which would most likely end up smearing them together. I would not recomend it. But hey....

Ok, I will tell you something crazy I did .. and it does work.

So I was in wal-mart on the aisle where they got house hold sprays and chemicals. They had a stainless steel spray for stainless steel frigerators and stuff. So I bought it ...

I had an extra steelbook, it was a matte finish one, and I sprayed some on the back of it and wiped it down and it made it look much more shiny. It was actually pretty cool. lol. I ended doing the whole steelbook and you cant tell that its sprayed, it just looks better is all.

I know the steelbook isnt stainless steel, so it might be some other chemical could have same affect. Regardless, it was me being crazy and screwing around havin' some fun. :p I dont have the time or craziness to do my whole collection ....

Well I figured it would apply to just areas that are single color not ones that have areas of multiple colors. For example the open black areas of the Thor Steelbook, Lion King, etc. But hey, there have been crazier ideas, isn't that right Wreck ;)

Very good point, Sutti...and you know what they say, the right cream put in the wrong place...oi vey...:hilarious:

:hilarious: Don't even get me started on that one.......I think there's a whole other forum for that...:scat:

This was most likely a silicon spray for stainless steel. Gives it that wet look

I'm definitely thinking of trying it when I go back down to Florida around the 11th. I live in the city right now and there is no Wal-mart or car store close by. I'll let you guys know!

play.com are now shipping orders together, had a couple of blu's arrive today both in a box.great news when it comes to the steelbooks on order.

I'm starting to worry! I've ordered some items from jb-hifi and amazon.de September 26th, and they didn't arrive yet :ohno:
Am I right to be worried?

Have you made any inquiries with the retailers, how long does it usually take from Europe and Australia to Canada

Hi Slim-not specifically 'on' Black Friday, but international Amazon sites have started to offer more sales, in general around the same time, as the US shopping holiday (this year on November 25). Any deals will be posted on the forum (Hot Deals Area, Steelbook Price Drop Thread, and or individual movie threads as applicable).

Generally it takes 9 or 10 days to arrive from Europe, from Australia I have no idea. But! my mate just told me the package from JB-Hifi arrived, so no worries here, and with any luck I'll get amazon's package tomorrow or something (I've made both orders the same day) :scat:

General 'Shipping Carrier' discussion thread

We've added a thread to discuss experiences with various shipping carriers from around the world. Feel free to share all experiences here-Digitalbabe

From member 'Mayflower'

here's the funny thing...

I had two separate order..

One of them came from USPS - what a relief...I just order 1 and I can't see any visible dent.

However, the one that came from UPS is dented.

I worked for UPS for a brief time and at least where I worked, they really do not care about the packages especially around the holidays. During the holidays they fill the trucks up to where the driver has to step on boxes to get to certain packages.

Email sent with pictures. Oh well...I'm just happy to receive at least a minty one.

---------- Post added at 02:07 PM ---------- Previous post was at 02:01 PM ----------

I get about 3 different drivers during certain hours...they're cool with me...always waving at me...but I do see them mishandling package all the time. One time...a new guy...I saw him throwing a package to my door step as I was watching him through my windows. WTH....since it wasn't fragile, i didn't want to say anything. Another time...I ordered a 70pound UPS..and I saw another driver rolling the box to the edge of his truck..bamm..bamm..and i'm like wth. I know some driver probably do care about their job...but so far...the ones that I encountered have been careless with the package.

I think people are better off with USPS mail with a higher percentage of receiving a mint one vs. UPS in a bubble envelope. If it's boxed, then it has a better change of survival.
