Steelbook & Collecting FAQ's:

Q: Where can I find a list of Steelbooks released?

A: blu-raysteelbooks.com

Q: Can I play movies contained inside Steelbooks on my Blu-Ray Player?

A: It depends-Blu-Rays are coded with Region A, B or C. Most Blu-Rays are "unlocked", regardless of what region they are, but it's always a good idea to check this forum or web resources before buying, as some are "locked".

Q: What are the differences between Steelbooks™, Iron Packs™, Metal Paks™, Viva Metal Boxes, Tins, etc?

A: Check out pics and discussion in our forum here

Q: What does "G1" and "G2" mean when discussing Steelbooks?

A: "G1" (1st Generation) refers to a Blu-Ray in a DVD-sized case. And "G2" (2nd Generation) refers to a Blu-Ray in a Blu-Ray-sized case.

Q: How to fix a loose disc on a steelbook you want to keep factory sealed that came with a floater?

A: Fixing a loose disc

Q: How do I navigate international shopping sites?

A: You can download a free 'add on' for most browsers called 'Google Translate'. Once you have it installed, the pages will translate automatically.

Q: I have many more questions-is there a general list of links to help me learn about Steelbooks, protecting them, etc?

A: Yes, here

Colombian-your order is 'allocated' to you when your order is placed. They won't take your copies out of your order to sell to someone else, because the items are attached to your name. However, they may be split up and sent separately-you will not pay the shipping more than once, however. Good luck! :scat: DB

Collector-the best thing to do is contact the retailers, and see what they can do for you. I've not ordered from HMV in years, but Amazon.fr either makes you return it (sometimes at your own cost, with only a portion refunded for shipping), and or/will issue a replacement order. Click the "Help" button, "Contact them" and choose your order to describe your issue. OVERALL, all of the Amazon sites have gotten slightly less lenient with simply replacing the item without making you pay some portion, or sending it back (probably because of the # of reports of damages, over the years). But people are still reporting that items are getting replaced, so give it a shot.

Pulp Fiction is OOP, and not a Steelbook anymore at Amazon.fr for quite some time-you probably need to ask a French member for assistance (see if Bidou or Mams can still help). After several years of collectors complaining about receiving Amarays when ordering items pictured as Steelbooks, Amazon.fr said they were hoping to create separate listings, but it seems the issue is not 100% resolved. The issue is that they often store Amaray versions and Steelbooks together in the same location in the distribution centers and 'pick' the item at random, so there is no guarantee whatsoever. In past years, they will make you send back those Amaray orders, but always said the same thing-there is no way for them to guarantee that you'll receive a Steelbook even if one is pictured.

For recent or upcoming releases, you should be ok, ordering a Steelbook from Amazon.fr, as long as it's been confirmed to actually be one (check in the forum threads). But going forward, for past releases, I'd suggest avoiding Amazon.fr if you want to guarantee to get a Steelbook-ask a member to help you instead.

Good luck!

DHL left a slip too, but because we were not home. Overall, I've had some difficulty with DHL, too, vs the other carriers. But there have been some ridiculous instances with Fedex, for me, too.

Yes, I did return an item back to HMV before. Need to send them email to notify and get a RMA number and attached together when you return them.
Their address is some island though.

As for Amazon.fr I just send back to them and say item not as describes, send using the cheapest mail.

Hey everyone, looking for a little help here.

Anyone has got returns experience with Hmv UK and Amazon FR?

Found a dent on my Thor steelbook and was wondering what is HMVs replacement/returns policy.

Also my friend ordered 2x Jackie Brown blu-rays from Amazon FR as according to picture they looked like a steelbook but Amazon have send keepcase editions.

Anyone knows what I can do to help myself and my friend?

Any help would be much appreciated

Yes, it definitely depends on where you are, in terms of postage for returns. If you send it via the cheapest method with no tracking number, and you have no proof that they received it, they will not issue a return. If you use traceable shipping-depending where you are, it could get very expensive, as only premium postage services provide tracking. Contact them first to see what they can do for you.

WARNING TO PURCHASERS FROM YES ASIA

I pre-ordered this from YA on 13th September using a credit card. Their policy is to only debit your card when item is ready for shipping.

Well, they debited my card on the date I pre-ordered. I contact YA who tell me that it is merely a pre-authorization and it will be returned shortly.
This NEVER happened. I have been emailing them ever since and I get the same bullshit reply that it is just an authorization.

Today (22-10-2011) I get an email stating that the debit was declined by my card and do I have another way to pay?
WTF? They already took $52.99 from my card on 13-09-2011 and now they want another $52.99.
I blocked my card just in case they tried this kind of trick, they did.

The only companies I have issues with are HK based companies.

Now it looks like I may not only have lost my money, but also my order.
I'm pissed to say the very least.

So folks you may want to check your debit/ credit card statements from the date you initially ordered your movie PLUS the date that it was shipped to see if you have been charged twice.

Contact your bank IMMEDIATELY to inform them of an UNAUTHORIZED debit on your account and for them to contact the merchant (YA).

I hope nobody else gets screwed like I did.

how long an order from hmv UK will be arrived if i shipped it to UK?

gonna send it to my friend in UK, because she doesn't know how to order such thing :p

then she'll carry it for me :D

If you have proof that they charged you, fax or email them a copy of your bank statement that shows where they charged you. I ordered the Taiwan Lion King and they ran two authorization charges for one copy. It was kind of inconvenient as they tied up about $55 on my card, but the authorization charge dropped in a few days. Good luck!

I emailed them, faxed them and they are still basically calling me a liar. My card statement says otherwise, but they have a really difficulty in accepting that fact. I've left it to YA and my Bank to duke it out.
My concern is that I lose my order.

*****Update******
It appears that I am not the only one this has happened to. A forum member at SBH was also double charged for this item.

My advice is to carefully check your card/ bank statements if you ordered this from yesasia.

Blu-I know there is a limited time that you can file a claim with credit card, but is there no way around that-maybe you can file a claim for the '2nd' charge (more recent, which may meet the dispute time frame cut off?)
