Steelbook & Collecting FAQ's:

Q: Where can I find a list of Steelbooks released?

A: blu-raysteelbooks.com

Q: Can I play movies contained inside Steelbooks on my Blu-Ray Player?

A: It depends-Blu-Rays are coded with Region A, B or C. Most Blu-Rays are "unlocked", regardless of what region they are, but it's always a good idea to check this forum or web resources before buying, as some are "locked".

Q: What are the differences between Steelbooks™, Iron Packs™, Metal Paks™, Viva Metal Boxes, Tins, etc?

A: Check out pics and discussion in our forum here

Q: What does "G1" and "G2" mean when discussing Steelbooks?

A: "G1" (1st Generation) refers to a Blu-Ray in a DVD-sized case. And "G2" (2nd Generation) refers to a Blu-Ray in a Blu-Ray-sized case.

Q: How to fix a loose disc on a steelbook you want to keep factory sealed that came with a floater?

A: Fixing a loose disc

Q: How do I navigate international shopping sites?

A: You can download a free 'add on' for most browsers called 'Google Translate'. Once you have it installed, the pages will translate automatically.

Q: I have many more questions-is there a general list of links to help me learn about Steelbooks, protecting them, etc?

A: Yes, here

They're all the same, I believe. They're exclusives, because they're exclusive to their respective countries.

i ordered something online and wasn't satisfied with the service or items so i returned items and even paid for the return out of pocket. Now the retailer received the items and refuses to refund me (WTF )

I am scared that i wont get my money back F*** what i am suppose to do ?

Steelbook-first try to stay calm. These things are frustrating, but what retailer is it? Did they ask you to send it with tracking. Did you exceed the return period, etc? Any other details that may help us help you?

Amazon Japan
I sent with tracking and insurance
I was within the return period
I paid with a credit card

Hi Steel-I have no idea why they won't refund you. Do you have an e-mail where they say 'why' they won't refund you? If you followed their procedure here, they should, unless something is getting lost in translation? If you're not familiar you can either install a Google Chrome Translate Add-On and the Japanese (or other language) text will translate automatically. Or you can use http://translate.google.com to copy and paste the text from their help page and translate from Japanese to English.

Can I make one observation which unfortunately doesn't help, but one of the T & C's of Amazon.jp is that you must understand commercial Japanese to use the site. At least I believe it's a condition, very convenient one. I may be wrong but don't think I am.

I have been arguing with them for two weeks now because i was never given an answer other then i wont get a refund.

So i am out $500+ my return shipping cost at this point

Were the items sealed when you sent them back? Were they damaged. I've personally always been gotten lucky when receiving items from Amazon JP, but any other info you have on why they were returned may help someone else, in case it happens to them.

a couple where damaged and they wanted me to pay return shipping cost for replacements. And then pay for the replacements shipped back to me which is unacceptable so i said i wanted a full refund and the entire order would be sent back.

New to steelbook collecting. Could use advice on which ones to snatch up that are good prices now.
Also, is amazon a bad site to deal with? I seem to see more posts about disappointed amazon customers than pleased ones.

I've been sticking with CA and US steels because i know they'll work for my blu ray player as I am in the US. I'm also interested in investing in steels from anywhere to leave sealed that are being sold at fair prices now before they become scarce.

Any and all advice is appreciated. Feel free to PM. Thanks! :)

I would say amazon is very good to buy from! Fast, shipping costs are cheap to affordable... And (from my experience!) very easy to replace a damaged item (do not receive damaged often of them though).
Packaging is (again from my experience!) superb with ama.de, very good with ama.fr and with ama.uk! Ama.ca is a little different... when you order just one they just put it an a jiffy bag/padded envelope where .de, .fr and .uk bubbke wrap the SBs then put them in a thick cardboard mailen and then (if you order more than one) in a big box!
But when you order 2 or more SBs from ama.ca they also put it in a box but then i would be hit with customs in germany (but that is not the case with you :D )
play.com is the worst!!! HMV is ok, but not good...
Hope i could help a little...

Hi Slim,

There's a lot of cheaper titles in Amazon.de...especially less than 10 euro...start with those so you can catch up a bit....
I concentrated on CDN and UK releases when I started (1 year and 4 months ago)....and missed out on some great Euro and Asian releases....so check them out now when there are still plenty of copies and be mindful of your...budget! It really spirals out of control sometimes...and can be overwhelming...enjoy!

I can definitely relate to the spiraling out of control thing. The list of wants, although they feel like MUST HAVES, keeps growning quickly. Thank you both!
