Steelbook & Collecting FAQ's:

Q: Where can I find a list of Steelbooks released?

A: blu-raysteelbooks.com

Q: Can I play movies contained inside Steelbooks on my Blu-Ray Player?

A: It depends-Blu-Rays are coded with Region A, B or C. Most Blu-Rays are "unlocked", regardless of what region they are, but it's always a good idea to check this forum or web resources before buying, as some are "locked".

Q: What are the differences between Steelbooks™, Iron Packs™, Metal Paks™, Viva Metal Boxes, Tins, etc?

A: Check out pics and discussion in our forum here

Q: What does "G1" and "G2" mean when discussing Steelbooks?

A: "G1" (1st Generation) refers to a Blu-Ray in a DVD-sized case. And "G2" (2nd Generation) refers to a Blu-Ray in a Blu-Ray-sized case.

Q: How to fix a loose disc on a steelbook you want to keep factory sealed that came with a floater?

A: Fixing a loose disc

Q: How do I navigate international shopping sites?

A: You can download a free 'add on' for most browsers called 'Google Translate'. Once you have it installed, the pages will translate automatically.

Q: I have many more questions-is there a general list of links to help me learn about Steelbooks, protecting them, etc?

A: Yes, here

If so I can't find it, it's out March 9th I believe.

I moved your post to here BigBlizz. As RJ stated, group buys for Japan are often limited to 1 copy per steel and typically not worth it for anything less than 20-30 units due to high shipping costs.

if there isnt a group buy, does amazon.jp ship international, if so does anyone know a way to turn the site into english as normally i can work my way round them (amazon.de, amazon.fr ect ) but this is so hard lol

Use Chrome browser to auto translate each page for you. Also you'll have to create a new account with Amazon.jp because it's in a different format. Yes they ship internationally.

Are we gonna get 100 Steelbooks from Universal this year ? Think that is might expensive way of celebrating but they are doing quite well so far with the MM releases and the Play.com ones as well.
Maybe 100 in total! But only 50 from Germany ;)
But as some titles that were released in Germany 2 weeks ago will also be released as play exclusives i am not sure if we will get 100 "dífferent" Steelbooks! But maybe they will surprise us with different artwork for the UK releases from the just released MEDIA MARKT wave...

BRJ-the seller has a listing that says 'Hellboy 1 and 2' but shows the cover for Hellboy 1. There is no such 'officially released' Steelbook that includes 1 and 2, and it is not clear what actual discs/versions are included. Since this seems a bit 'homespun', folks should just be aware, when considering a purchase, as it looks like an 'official' Amazon listing.

The picture shows both Steelbooks (that is where i get the thought he is selling both!), Hellboy geman exclusive and then Hellboy II Reel Heroes Collection... just stay on the picture!

I'd like to order a few things from them, but what shipping option do I pick for US? What is the difference for C1, 2, or 3?
Thanks

I am with surfury. I order from them and have always had the best OCD packaging. They package very well and are a very good company. :scat:

Bert can let the orders slip occasionally, however I have a Group Buy with him at the moment for over 30 Steelbooks, and have full confidence in him as have the vast majority of the members here.

The easiest answer is to send him off an email. Takes a couple of days but you will get a reply.

Has anyone had any dealing with www.movies-blu-ray.nl??

I ordered 6 Metal Paks from them over a week ago and I have heard nothing from them!! I live in the UK so I am unsure of there shipping times.

I paid via Paypal so they have got my money. I tried to e-mail for an Order update but I have not heard back from them.

Cheers

OK, so I've recieved a reply from Bert on shipping to US. He says $10.50 Euro for "not so safe" shipping and $20 Euro for a "sturdy with a lot of protection box". Which do you guys ususally go for? $20 euro seems like a lot for 1-2 SBs. Or do you usually buy the cheaper shipping or just more of a bulk order?

Whenever I ordered from Bert in the past, I always did a bulk order.

Might we worth it to host a group buy or check the interest in a number of titles.

You can ship 1 steelbook in a box 1st class USPS for around $3.50 including tracking.

If anyone wants to jump on to my Group Buy for Real Steel for other orders with Bert feel free. I can mass ship them to NA for onward shipment. Please discuss this though in the trading thread and not here, as I don't want to upset aps. :D

Guys,

count me to the list of damage item received from HMV.COM. I had cancelled one of my order because it said "item deleted", but to my surprised they sent it to me and I didn't realized it until today. Of course, they sent it with their standard toilet brown paper. And as expected, it was smash in and the steelbook inside was bent in half :(

Does anyone in here experience with the replacement or refund process? The steelbook is already out of print. Luckily, DJ Hilalo was able to grab me one and send it in a well package box. Now, I don't care about the one from hmv.

Since it's out of print, do I need to ship it back at my cost? When do they refund the money?

I just sent and email to the below contact with pictures.

[email protected]

Any advice or suggestion is always appreciated.

Thanks,

Thanks,

You have to pay for return shipping out of pocket until the item is returned

and they respond to emails every 2 days or so

thanks, they want tracking too? it's going to cost more than the steelbook itself. So silly of them. If they are going to refund that, i'll be more than happy to add tracking for them :)

Thanks for the info.

I'll wait for their response.

they process it before or after the refund of the movie but make sure you get something with tracking

yeah they should return the shipping regardless of the method you used,
For example i have used express before and got refunded.

it's so silly of them.

The item is like 13 pounds...probably cost me 13 pounds to ship it back to them with tracking....so they are going to refund me 13 pounds + 13 pounds...resulting negative. :hilarious: It would be more beneficial for them to instruct me to break it apart and throw it in the trash with picture evidence and they can refund me 13 pounds.

some overseas companies are weird but i suppose you could send without tracking and take the risk of getting lost or them lying about getting it back and giving you a big

I found the Narnia: Voyage of the Dawn Treader Japanese Steelbook for the same price including shipping on hmv.co.jp and yesasia.com. I have never ordered from either site. Which is the better choice to ship to the US?
