Steelbook & Collecting FAQ's:

Q: Where can I find a list of Steelbooks released?

A: blu-raysteelbooks.com

Q: Can I play movies contained inside Steelbooks on my Blu-Ray Player?

A: It depends-Blu-Rays are coded with Region A, B or C. Most Blu-Rays are "unlocked", regardless of what region they are, but it's always a good idea to check this forum or web resources before buying, as some are "locked".

Q: What are the differences between Steelbooks™, Iron Packs™, Metal Paks™, Viva Metal Boxes, Tins, etc?

A: Check out pics and discussion in our forum here

Q: What does "G1" and "G2" mean when discussing Steelbooks?

A: "G1" (1st Generation) refers to a Blu-Ray in a DVD-sized case. And "G2" (2nd Generation) refers to a Blu-Ray in a Blu-Ray-sized case.

Q: How to fix a loose disc on a steelbook you want to keep factory sealed that came with a floater?

A: Fixing a loose disc

Q: How do I navigate international shopping sites?

A: You can download a free 'add on' for most browsers called 'Google Translate'. Once you have it installed, the pages will translate automatically.

Q: I have many more questions-is there a general list of links to help me learn about Steelbooks, protecting them, etc?

A: Yes, here

Is there not a thread for Inglourious Basterds MM Exclusive [DE]. I couldn't find it when I searched for it. Maybe I'm misspelling it but I've tried different variations on spelling and come up with nothing. I honestly don't think it has one. Can anybody else find it? I'll donate some pics to it once it's found or created.

Amazon.de ?

I've never used this side of Amazon before but I wanted to order warriors would it be better to order more than 1 item for shipping costs ?

Thanks in advance

+1 I usually order minimum 3 to spread the cost, theres quite a few nice steelbooks under 10€ on there at the moment so a good time to buy :oohyeah:

They also send them in huge boxes so its like christmas when they turn up :D

Cheers mate, Just ordered the one steelbook for now gone on a spending spree so I should have coming in the post, Dark Knight & Batman Begins jp, Hurt Locker UK, Expendables UK, Warrior DE & Drive UK & Shaun of the dead CA

:scat:

Amz.de has best rates to UK as they are a flat rate. They still deliver pretty quick if you are having them sent together, just choose the rate well.
For packing, they use hard cardboard; very good.

Amz.fr seems to have joined the ranks of Amz.co.jp in that you can only get "Rapide" service as default and so as you add more the price goes up, also can be sensitive to weighty items such as "tins" or jumbos. They do ship them out separately which helps put the smile back mind.

Amz.es are always worth a punt as sometimes their prices for German Steels are cheaper than Amz.de. Look for [Allemania] when doing a Steelbook search. Again they are flat rate which is nice.

Amz.ca be aware of the price when shipping to UK. They always declare and VAT/Duty exempt rate was dropped from £18 to £15 w.e.f. 1st Nov 2011. This includes postage which can drive cost up. I have always chosen cheapest postal option which usual says 40 days I think, invariably they send by DHL so it's here in 3-4 days. DHL is also cheaper than Royal Mail/Parcelforce for admin charges, at £1.25 rather than £8.
For packing, they use padded envelopes and are CRAP. Customer service is good, suggest email them each time there's a problem as they then tend to tell you to keep the Steel and will express mail a replacement to you. Not always mind so don't rely on it.

Ok so ive had this package being delivered from canada via canada post to the UK. now its finally arrived in the country however when i track the package it sust says "Item arrived at postal facility. Item on hold." i understand that a customs charge may be expected but it says nothing as to which postal facility its at or how i can contact them to find out whats going on. its been like this for the last coouple of days now!

PLEASE HELP!!!

Hi Joke, you can try to call Royal Mail and give them your tracking number, to see if they have more info? Sometimes tracking numbers internally at the Postal Service of the delivery country are slightly different than the one at the original country, but you can try. Otherwise, you have to wait...

I actually ordered a few times from Amazon France, and their "Rapide" shipping is actually regular airmail, and not a delivery via a courier like Amazon Japan.

Regarding Amazon Germany, they aren't only sending Steelbook in a cardboard, but also adding very nice quantity of bubble wrap layers for every Steelbook in the package. Sometimes they even put each item in their own box, so you might get multiple boxes within one bigger box, which in every box you'll have a Steelbook that has been bubble wrapped.

I don't know if all Amazon stores sending with the new packaging system, though Amazon Japan still pack their items very poorly.

Play is using a premium FINISH to their version of Chronicle and listening to the HDN community in regards to packaging so changes will be happening soon in that regard

@Wreck - i hope your not talking about this change in packaging ? Its not really that much better its a bubble wrap envelop - and my damages have not decreased since they started using it (was with IN Time steelbook)

Take caer

Yeah agree only airmail but they think it's Rapide, it is slightly faster but there is no slower, cheaper option like at Amz.de.

Agree Amz.de has upped the ante in general regarding packaging, however they need a bit more QC at packing stage, having received not only 1 damaged Steel but its replacement also damaged before I got a "clean" copy.

FAQ-The Hidefninja Steelbook™ Collector Lounge & Retailer/Shipping chat

Just seen news item on BBC that postal charges from Royal Mail are set to rise again with effect from 30th April 2012. So I checked website of Royal Mail and sure enough they are going up. If anyone wants a pdf then they can go here for a downloadable version.

What does this mean ? Well I send a normal Steelbook well padded in a box it usually works out as £5.37 ie under 400gm, under the new tariff same Steel will cost £6.76. This is an increase of nearly 26%. EEK!

This will have an effect though on all general trading which is why I've posted here. If this is not right please move.
