Steelbook & Collecting FAQ's:

Q: Where can I find a list of Steelbooks released?

A: blu-raysteelbooks.com

Q: Can I play movies contained inside Steelbooks on my Blu-Ray Player?

A: It depends-Blu-Rays are coded with Region A, B or C. Most Blu-Rays are "unlocked", regardless of what region they are, but it's always a good idea to check this forum or web resources before buying, as some are "locked".

Q: What are the differences between Steelbooks™, Iron Packs™, Metal Paks™, Viva Metal Boxes, Tins, etc?

A: Check out pics and discussion in our forum here

Q: What does "G1" and "G2" mean when discussing Steelbooks?

A: "G1" (1st Generation) refers to a Blu-Ray in a DVD-sized case. And "G2" (2nd Generation) refers to a Blu-Ray in a Blu-Ray-sized case.

Q: How to fix a loose disc on a steelbook you want to keep factory sealed that came with a floater?

A: Fixing a loose disc

Q: How do I navigate international shopping sites?

A: You can download a free 'add on' for most browsers called 'Google Translate'. Once you have it installed, the pages will translate automatically.

Q: I have many more questions-is there a general list of links to help me learn about Steelbooks, protecting them, etc?

A: Yes, here

Im new to this, been around for a bit but just getting into the steelbook thing

I've seen the Japan and Korea Batman covers and I don't know why but I really like them. Problem is obviously the Batman is no longer available and already going for over a hundred dollars on ebay. Right now I just don't have that kind of money for it and it will most likely just go up, so basically kiss that goodbye.

So I do some research and it seems this cover art started in Germany on a digibook, them went to Japan for a steelbook and then Korea. Its also being released again on an Amaray cover as well.

So I ask, before I go on the hunt to try and find that elusive Batman Begins, how often do they resuse cover art like that? I know some are used more then others, but this one in pretty unique it seems.

What are the odds of a steelbook coming out with the same cover art in another region? Or if I really want that art bite the bullet and pay the big money for the Batman.

As you mentioned this cover style has been used on digibooks in France, Spain and Germany, so it's not completely out of the question that these type of steelbooks could be released in another country. I moved your thread over here as this is designed for questions exactly like yours. Good luck!

I know people aren't going to like this answer, but i say the chances are pretty high... It was a "Japan Exclusive" first and then before you knew it Korea had it, and people weren't too happy about that.... I wouldn't be surprised if the same steelie popped up elsewhere.

+1 money talks....

I actually saw something somewhere that I believe in the UK theyre releasing the same cover, but in color. Hmm dont know if I like that one or not. Also I cant tell if its a steelbook or not, it doesn't say.

I know people wouldn't like it but I hope so, its a cover I really like, but man I cant spend that kind of money.

Sure no problem, Im new so still figuring out what goes where.

Along with that question lets throw another one in the mix.

How do yuo know or find out how many steelbook are being made or were made? Is there anyway or is it just a dice roll as to its rarity. I mean I know where are rare steels out there that go for big money and some that dont. Is it all just by how popular the movie was?

Play.com Returns?

Has any one had any issues with the Play.com returns?

I sent 3 steelbooks back on the 5th of June due to knife cuts on the spines and have not received an email to confirm a replacement has being sent or a replacement. I used the pre-paid postage and checked the tracking via royal mail and just confirms the date it was posted on.

If the parcels are lost, where do i stand on replacements?

Go into your account.
Look under order history.
Click into the item ordered and it should tell you the status.

Normally it says 'return initiated'.... The refund is normally given automatically with a email confirmation.

This is for refund only.... Not sure about replacement. Thanks

play.com returns system is the worst ever they will do everything not to refund you they are about the worst company ever to deal with.
unless its a play.com exclusive just stay away from them

I returned a steelbook a couple of weeks ago and had no issues. It took them a while yes, but I got my replacement eventually.

I sent back my chronicle as it was in the worst state I have ever seem, I actually rang them up told them it was damaged so they put it as return incoming and gave me a replacement number to put into the package

They emailed me 2 days after i posted it to say they had received it and then the following day I had a email say replacement has been posted, this was 2 days ago so I should receive it beginning of next week

By the sounds of things I got lucky lol

have returned dvd's before and had a replacement sent within a couple of days, maybe a bit of a back log with all the recent Exclusive ect.

In my account just says "return iniciated"

will give it a few more days than give them a ring as i doubt RM can manage to loose 3 different parcels on the way back to play.

Takes about 2 weeks to get a refund. Even though its free to return the items get proof of postage from your post office as they sometimes say they never arrived back. Least this way Royal Mail will pay you for the loss

i returned my immortals steelbook for a replacement. a new copy was dispatched on the day they received my returned copy. i received my new copy a few days later.
this is the only experience i've had with play.com regarding refunds/ replacements. i have to say, i was pleased with how they dealt with the issue.

Had also a knife cut on the spine of my "Taken" steel. Wrote a mail to play.com and they said I should return it and I will get a replacement. I shipped it yesterday.

I hope there will be no problems...
