I finally found it! My “holy grail”!

The fine folks at /r/steelbooks have a good idea that I think could work well here.

Share a picture or pictures of your most recent “grail” discovery.

A “GRAIL” is an edition that might have taken you a while to find, has a good story about how you found it, or is important to you in some way. Grail does NOT indicate value. A $5 find at a thrift store could be a grail to you!

1) where you found it (RETAILER, MARKETPLACE, THRIFT STORE, etc)
2) who produced the edition (if it's a premium or retailer exclusive, please note to help other members! Filmarena, Reel Synergy, BluFans, Zavvi Exclusive, etc)
3) your own picture
4) share your story, if you can!
5) (optional) if you traded for it, what was the trade or how much you might have purchased it for.

Interstellar by Manta Lab, bought from a reseller. Next to Spider-Man 1, my favorite premium edition I own. Every artwork I wanted for this movie is present in this edition. I imagine that the slip being a Full Slip instead of a lenticular would be the only thing that could make this an even better edition for me, I might be wrong though. Otherwise it‘s perfect for me.

This is my definitive Bruce Lee collection edition, made by Novamedia and bought from the same reseller. It‘s so classy and high-quality. Even though the Enter the Dragon movie disc is not in it, the front cover is showing Bruce Lee from Enter The Dragon. This way all five of his major movies are represented in this edition.

On the right: Assassin’s Creed Syndicate metalpack, very cool debossing, and I like the slogan on the back.

I can't be bothered to photograph them but Once Upon A Time In America and Master and Commander are my two grails that I managed to get for reasonable prices.

Just updated the PRIZE list - those that DO add a photo will be automatically entered to win my "thread kick off prizes"

I've got some more items to go through and this contest will go into next month, I think, so plenty of time to enter or add photos or think about what a grail means to you.

Cool idea Andy. I’ll have to have a think because I haven’t picked up a grail or something I’ve been after for years in a while.

I suppose one that’s important to me plus I won it through this forum and on top of that is that it’s signed by John Carpenter is the Mondo thing. That’s one of my grails. A prized possession

I'll never own the Mondo print of the Thing, but oh my gosh was this a great choice for the Mondo x Steelbook line.

The artwork just totally pops and was one of the first additive slips that I was excited to see in person.

Funny story, was after both of them for ages, found a member here selling both but wouldn’t accept my offer which I deemed reasonable at the time. Then found them both on eBay for auction at the same time from the same seller. Won them both and for considerably less than what I had offered the member here. When I paid I realised it was the same member from HDN and when that member clocked it was me they were pretty p!ssed they could of got more if they had just accepted my original offer lol (got told that in a PM ha)

My grail is most definitely my FilmArena Alien set. One of the best movies ever made, this is a film that’s extremely important to me and it was incredibly hard to find. I have great memories watching this film with my Dad growing up. We weren’t the closest and we didn’t bond over much, but cinema was the exception. I remember how excited he was to show me this film (this and the Godfather of course). I look forward to one day being just as excited to show my kid. I knew then that I had to get the best edition possible for this one. I had this on my eBay save search for almost 2 years before I finally got it! It’s a perfect edition that I’ll always treasure. A true grail

I was thinking for us eventually, we'd be like "oh I just got this, check it out"

but certainly since we've not done this before on the forum, it's completely fine to post the ones that you have now that are important to you in some way.

I got this Ginger Snaps Trilogy leatherbound mediabook set (by NSM Records) on ebay.
This was my first bluray I spend over 100 euros on, this was in 2019 before I joined HDN I paid €179,90 for this set !
I do regret not picking up the other mediabooks but this one remains the grail to have if you're a fan of Ginger Snaps.

before I properly started collecting steels I only had around 8-10. Off the top of my head I remember hellboy, oldboy and battle royale and a few DVD steels like cloverfield, avatar, sin city and American gangster but I wasn’t sold on them completely. And most were bought at complete random however it was these 3 that sealed my love for them and when the unhealthy obsession took over my brain. 3 of the ultimate non premium grails
