Plain Archive is excited to announce the release of I Saw The Devil Steelbook. We've been asked by Blue Kino, another Korean Blu-ray company to design the Steelbook edition which will be PLAIN ARCHIVE's exclusive.
We were hoping to release the world's first Steelbook edition of I Saw The Devil, but Zavvi announced its own before we could. The news made us reconsider the project, but with director Kim Jee-woon's support, we couldn't drop it.
I Saw The Devil Steelbook will be released under the approval of director Kim, and we are working on the artwork as we speak.
Best Regards
PLAIN ARCHIVE

I wanna know what Plain Archive's release schedule looks like, is this gonna be available for pre-order before The King of Pigs? And is Zero Dark Thirty after this...

I think The King of Pigs goes up for pre-order at the end of this month, around the 30th I think I remember seeing, and then if what Choi says is true we will then see I Saw the Devil go up around mid July.

As for Z.D.T I think they said they are having issues with artwork approval which is holding things up, an artwork reveal was originally planned for last month but was pushed back because of this, hopefully we will see something soon. Then The Master is maybe going to go up around August or September I think they said on their facebook, at least that is what they hoped, but that is obviously very tentative.

They are also releasing the 10th anniversary steelbook edition of Oldboy sometime this summer after it was pushed back, they were hoping for late July or maybe early August for it to go up for pre-order.

Also if I remember correctly, during the announcement that they were making an edition of The Master on their facebook page, they leaked that they are also planning on releasing Blu-ray editions of Rust and Bone and Holy Motors at some point this year, but they have yet to officially reveal them as of yet.

I think that's everything that is known about their schedule and planned releases for this year so far, I could be wrong but that's what I remember.

Thanks a lot mate, wow I didn't even know they were doing The Master so I'm looking forward to that now! It seems like it'll be one a month or so, which is more than reasonable. I'll be happy if I Saw The Devil goes up around mid July cos that's payday!

The news about Rust and Bone and Holy Motors hasn't been officially announced yet and was only gently alluded to on their facebook page, so I would take it with a grain of salt and take it as more rumour than anything solid at the moment, but I really hope they do release them, Plain Archive would do an amzing job on them if they do happen.

But back to I Saw the Devil, I personally cannot wait for this release! I wonder what the slip cover will be? It would be pretty amazing if they did something with the film poster that has the knife over Kim's face. This one:

Imagine if the knife was slightly embossed, like how they did the embossing around Kirsten Dunst's character on the front of the Melancholia release, and then had a beautiful red gloss effect on it, that would look amazing! If you then replaced the white 'I Saw the Devil' title with the same style and font that is on the steelbook, but printed in red foil, I think you would have something pretty amazing right there. This release is gonna be so awesome!

Blue is the Warmest Colour (La vie d'Adèle), Rust and Bone (De rouille et d'os), Holy Motors (Holy Motors :D): Plain Archive would be releasing an unusual amount of French films - like Kimchi actually, with Le grand bleu, Léon, Le fabuleux destin d'Amélie Poulain, and even French co-productions Perfume and The Pianist if you want to get technical... I'm not complaining, bien au contraire, may they keep going with that trend, I hope PA officialises them all soon, my shelves are waiting :).

After reading a few comments, I decided it will be a pass on PA Exclusive #003 The King of Pigs. If it truly is "not an enjoyable film", if it's "frustrating" and "doesn't exist to satify viewers", then to me it cannot be a good film worth watching, even less worth owning, period. Schindler's List is a tough film, it doesn't tell an enjoyable story, but it IS an enjoyable film for many reasons (acting, directing, score, writing). Thank you G:Box and Man on Wire (with whom I would tend to agree) for your opinions on it. My PA collection won't have many holes if they go on with the rumored titles, but King of Pigs won't be a part of it.

About I Saw the Devil, now that is an absolutely enthralling film, can't wait to see how the slipcover looks :).

Slightly off topic, but for those of you who are interested Plain Archive just posted a link to a really cool little article on their facebook page about their origins, and includes a full list of releases they have scheduled for this year, Rust and Bone and Holy Motors are officially confirmed! Getting back to I Saw the Devil, this would look pretty amazing if made into a slipcover:
