Plain Archive is excited to announce the release of I Saw The Devil Steelbook. We've been asked by Blue Kino, another Korean Blu-ray company to design the Steelbook edition which will be PLAIN ARCHIVE's exclusive.
We were hoping to release the world's first Steelbook edition of I Saw The Devil, but Zavvi announced its own before we could. The news made us reconsider the project, but with director Kim Jee-woon's support, we couldn't drop it.
I Saw The Devil Steelbook will be released under the approval of director Kim, and we are working on the artwork as we speak.

Haven't seen the movie, but after what they did with the Wrestler I'm positive this will look awesome. So i will keep my eye on this one, but at the moment I'm more interested in Zero Dark Thirty. Hope we get some info on that soon as its been awhile.

I agree that it's best to keep things positive. Sometimes it's easy to get a little over passionate about these things and going back and reading some posts make me wanna hit the edit button a little I'll admit.

I'd like to take a moment to clarify my previous comments.

What I really meant was...

that it's frustrating to see members criticizing Plain Archive's pricing on The Wrestler as "the retailer" overcharging for a catalogue release. Personally I am beyond impressed with PA's grand entrance onto the steelbook scene. Right now, we are all kind of in the midst of a big moshpit of steelbook mania and every country/retailer is gonna put their own spin on how they do it.

Personally, I'd like to see more of what Plain Archive and Kimchi are doing and will happily spend my money on intentional excellence. So when I see the incredible effort that Plain Archive put into The Wrestler, and that the execution of it all, from start to finish, in virtually every way was damn near flawless, then it's a bit hard to swallow when someone complains about a premium quality limited collector steelbook being $34.99 when I can walk into my local Best Buy and see loads of standard amaray movies with no slipcovers (just the mass produced plastic case with discs inside) priced at $34.99.

Plain Archive basically scored perfectly on all counts with their first release. Think about that for a second. That's incredible.

Design: A+
Quality and Quality control: A+
Extras like slips and goodies: A+
Communication to customers: A+++
Website ordering operation: A+++
Collectibility: high

They packaged the goods well and took care in nearly every step and gave us basically a flawless release.

All for $34.99???

Now when they announce these other titles... I almost don't even care if I already own that particular movie or have interest in it. I'll probably buy it regardless, because they have won me over.

(Many of the same comments can be said about Leon from Kimchi. What an amazing package for $34.99! The only thing I wish is that it was full gloss instead of that lettering but that's a minor quibble now. I love that release.)

That's what I really meant to say. I am just trying to defend Plain Archive because I am an avid steelbook collector that wants more of the high quality releases and if we try to squeeze any more profit room out of $34.99, we are gonna put em out of the game real quick. Let them have a couple bucks. Take my money.... and keep em coming please.

But Plain Archive aren't profiting off the shipping and customers charges, so they are a non factor... If you choose to buy abroad you pay more in shipping.

Anything new coming out of Zavvi or Amazon etc is more expensive than £21 more often than not.

Nobody is forcing anyone to buy anything, don't like the prices, go back to amarays

If it adds to the final price then of course it is a factor. I wasn't saying that Plain Archive were making any extra profit than any other company, simply that their releases are a little expensive for me.

As I say, if you can't afford it, get a new hobby.

There's a difference between not being able to afford something and not wanting to pay the asking price for something.

Gimme a break. Seriously? Zavvi charges $20.99 for matte single disc 1/3 blank joke of a slip, bare bones no goodies steelbooks all the time. And then they ship the item that YOU paid money for in ridiculously inadequate packaging and follow up with very poor customer service.

Anybody think that there is even the slightest chance on this planet or any other than you could make a better or comparable steelbook package of The Wrestler and sell it worldwide for less than $34.99?

Didn't think so.

That's wayyyyyyyyyy less than Blufans, and for same quality product, catalogue or not.

I don't think anyone was implying that Plain Archive are overcharging to make extra money, simply that their releases are overpriced (for whatever reason) compared to what we are used to paying in the UK. Yes they do sell a nice package, but for some that isn't enough to justify the price increase.
