Plain Archive is excited to announce the release of I Saw The Devil Steelbook. We've been asked by Blue Kino, another Korean Blu-ray company to design the Steelbook edition which will be PLAIN ARCHIVE's exclusive.
We were hoping to release the world's first Steelbook edition of I Saw The Devil, but Zavvi announced its own before we could. The news made us reconsider the project, but with director Kim Jee-woon's support, we couldn't drop it.
I Saw The Devil Steelbook will be released under the approval of director Kim, and we are working on the artwork as we speak.
Best Regards
PLAIN ARCHIVE

Not much in their website. Maybe I will join the praising bandwagon when they pump more titles consistently. In 4 months they have released just 1 and they just competed the art design for the second one when our design ninjas out here do dozens in a matter of few days.
Designing shouldn't take a long time.

Like I said, only 1 steelbook, but they've released other things in that time http://plainarchive.com/collections/plain-archive

So you'd rather have quantity over quality? You seem to have something against Asian steelbooks.

Relax and be patient. I actually dont mind the spacing and timing of releases. Gives the company time to perfect their product and gives me time to make more money to buy them :)

Not against Asian Steels but the blind soft touch unconditional praise they get no matter how much they delay despite taking money upfront. Zesty pumps out dozens of design in a week.
Good things take time. Unless we know what's going behind the scenes we can't really point the finger at retailers. And as we have already scene in most cases studio's are the biggest culprit and reason for delays.

Though I agree Asian etailers should stop charging upfront for pre-orders.

I think the point is that a company can focus on quality when they are handling one release at a time and taking months to make any progress on it. It has been over four months since this release was announced and it isn't available for pre-order yet which is a bit ridiculous. I don't really understand the hype that surrounds Plain Archive either. I thought The Wrestler design was poor and this is decent but nothing spectacular. That said I do like the look of The Master, hopefully that one will change my opinion for the better.

They have designed for Kimchi the steelbook of Rush.
They have designed forNovamedia the steelbook of Drive.
So yes, only 2 steelbooks on their website but two another greats steelbooks for others.
So, Plain, take your time if you always provide to us such beauties.

The Rush steelbook is okay and the Drive steelbook still is just a twinkle in nova media's eye and yet you seem willing to heap praise on it like it is greatest steelbook release of the year. It's really laughable.

I understand where ya getting at, but designing (if you are good) Is easy, it's the other business part which takes time.

They also make their own menu's on Blu-ray which have to be approved by the owner of the rights to the movie.

Distribution, packaging, logistics, it's all in there too.

And where bigger and more experienced companies do this with such ease and efficiency, Plain archive also can, but they simply just don't choose to do so.

It's a process of respect, love for the work you do, and eventually that shows in everything they do, from their designs to their customer service.

They work with a state of zen, a purpose and feel comfortable with that, it's a beautiful thing.

And in the end they still make profit, so why change?

I'm pretty jealous of their jobs, and where Zesty and other talented ninjas make alot of mockups and own designs, it's not from a business point of view. That makes it so much easier, because there aren't any consequences to that other than some rants from fellow ninjas or dislikes.

Yep not to mention the big companies start all that before a film even hits the cinema so already have months to prepare. PA start from scratch.

Like you said, this is only their second steelbook release, so that further backs up my statement that they don't 'pump' out releases, and anyone who has their releases is not blind to see that Plain Archive pays attention to detail. It's not unconditional praise as I give it where it's deserved, regardless of the retailer or when they take payment (which has no merit in this conversation anyway).
