The ones already in steel were good choices and I'd second Jango's further choices. As for a Chaplin collection, in a blink.
I'm on all for it, not only Chaplin though... I love old movies, silence, non silence, black and white, I love them all, they're like time machines 
Imo the best already have releases: A Trip to the Moon, Metropolis and the upcoming Nosferatu, the only problem is that i dont own any of them except Bosferatu which i have on pre-order 
Anyway, i would still be interested in some, however it would depend on the artwork, but im all up for seingsome classics get the steel treatment

Not interested in silent films Steelbooks
or any Charlie Chaplin even though he done some great films
They would have to be a budget price max price would be £6.00
I do although have a big interest in classic black and white films from the
30's 40's 50's 60's and of course later years

I could spend days listing black and white movies I would buy 100% if released as a Steelbook
Silent Movies just don't do it for me for steelbook release
as you can get the ones already released at budget price most of them
Some of the best movies ever were black and white and not colour
Fantastic directors
Fantastic Acting
Fantastic Screenplay
Fantastic Film Scores
Wreck if some company approached you about Charlie Chaplin I tell them there would not be enough of a interest for good qty of sales to be worth it for them to do it
That's just my opinion but I would love to see more classic black and white films released especially with good extras

Honestly I think it's a lame idea. Criterion is already at the top and of the game with Chaplin films and I get the best transfers, the best supplements, great artwork, wonderful clear cases and nice booklets too. Though I love steelbooks, Chaplin on Steelbooks would be a waste of time.
But now if say the likes of Battleship Potemkyn, Intolerance, Strachka, Ivan the Terrible Parts 1 & 2, The Last Command and other great but lesser known titles were newly remastered and released on Steelbooks it would be awesome and really worthwhile.
And one thing that should be noted is that the titles which had never released before or in any treatment other than amarays should be the titles with most priority. Say I somewhat appreciated the Seven Samurai Steelbook, but I drooled over Nosferatu as it was a first time release in any form. And Frankly I'd like titles which Criterion or anyone else has not already released with superior transfers and specs. Now say if I were to see new Steelbooks for say Dr Strangelove, Rashomon, Bridge on the River Kwai, In the Mood for Love, Chungking Express, Night of the Hunter or Kagemusha I wouldn't exactly be happy. But Au Hasard Balthazer, Fallen Angels, Stalker, Days of Being Wild, Abhijan, Taste of Cherry, Prisoner of Shark Island or Rebecca would be enticing.

Not a big Chaplin fan, so I'd have to say no to that one, but I'd buy any Fritz Lang silent film in a Steelbook, and pretty much any movie with Louise Brooks in it.
I seem to be in the minority, but I'd be interested. If it was Keaton then it would depend on price as I have all the Kino releases
Harold Lloyd, Laurel & Hardy I would as these don't have UK Blu-ray releases. Chaplin films I already have, apart from City Lights as the UK Blu-ray seems to be OOP

Yes. No doubt at all that I would buy each & every chaplin film and also would have an interest in the Mutuals / Essany films also.
The 2003 Warner Brothers "Essential" Chaplin Boxset was a revelation for me. Happened upon a copy in a WHS store in September 2003 having previously though " no way " i, for some reason, brought it and loved it & still do.
The movies deserve every bit of love & attention they can get and the Steelbook versions would be massive sellers across Europe too. A 4k print run in good quality will be sold out on pre order.

I don't think so, even in the US the market for silent films are rather low. And if the Chaplin films were say being released for the first time then maybe sales would be high. But they are already released by Criterion in great editions and even previously Park Media released most of them in the UK. I don't think the people who liked the films waited for steelbooks, so most people who want theses films already own them. So overall it is not a good prospect.
But other silent films not released yet could have high sales, but the market will be very low for re-releases on Steelbook.
Loads of films already in Blu Ray re released in Sreelbook sell well ( or sell out ) so why would these be different ? The European Market for Chaplin is big, due obviously to the majority of the films being silent ! A 4k print run on any Chaplin film upto the Great Dictator should sell better than, for example, Tron ! If they were to do the artwork exclusive then all the collectors, globally, will be all over these.
