K-steelbook are also looking into the possibility of doing the same. Nothing confirmed just yet though.

I had a feeling they might try and follow KimChi's lead. They must be getting too many cancelations I would imagine. I really liked the idea of this being a Kimchi only, super limited exclusive. But that's me just being selfish.

I don't see why the distributor would allow one retailer and refuse another, so it should be possible. But I suppose it depends on how many copies they want to send back (I think they had a bigger stock allocation than Kimchidvd) and whether or not it's financially viable for them to do it.

There has to be some type of exclusive relationship that Kimchi has that positions them ahead of the other retailers with the studios. We're not seeing the likes of K2DVD, KStelebooks, or yesasia getting exclusive items. Based on that alone, I can see the 'exclusive' just going to Kimchi. That is the general consensus and K2 told me it's not happening, as the flipping of the art was done intentionally so that consumers could identify the product easier. Anything is possible I guess, but I had Ksteelbook and K2 ship out my steelbooks with the back cover facing forward. To me it's different from the majority of IM3 steels, and I like that.

Moreover, apart from having a good relationship with the studio, another equally important factor is taking the initiative.

Is any other Korean retailer popular with collectors as much as Kimchi? Probably not.

That's because they do things differently like maintaining good relations with the studio, personalizing/customizing products as per the collectors' needs and taking the initiative wherever possible.

Difficult to follow Disney's logic here :) First they don't put the title of the film on front of the steelbook (one could, and many have, question the rationale in that), then somebody else (in national Disney offices?) starts to worry about consumers not recognising the product. Yet the title is prominently displayed on the front of the slip cover :hilarious:

Most likely the steelbook design comes from the Disney headquarters, and these reversal decisions have been made in a few national offices. I guess this must have made perfect sense to somebody...

Sounds as if all concerned weren't on the same page due to the front not following a standard layout EEK!

I ordered from k-steelbook yesterday and shipped today...No "want do you want to do" type email.

I would guess that seeing as pictures of the steel are now prominently displayed on the site, they are assuming that buyers placing new orders have no problem with the reversed packaging.

Yeah, it was hard to miss what I was ordering...I wanted a sealed reverse one anyways...As well as the re-pack

Well I had ordered from ksteelbook as I missed out on the kimchi preorder. Due to the artwork mix-up, I too had received an email from them regarding whether to cancel the order or dispatch it for which I had asked them if it is possible to rectify the error and getting the order replaced. This was there reply-

"We have still requested to the manufacturer for replacement or re-sealing.
However, it seems to be impossible.
Anyway, we will contact you again.
Thanks regards."

I'm still ok with mix-up print error though...
