I really think we should boycott this if it is that price, zavvi are just taking the piss, they also have the worst after sales service of any supplier.

I wish people would boycott it. But WE (and Zavvi) know that's not going to happen.

If anything, scalpers will snap them up and have a whole bunch of them on E-bay for DOUBLE that price :(

Zavvi prob think they can move 10-15 K just because other titles sold out fast like Aladdin. Well a promised 4K run will make more fuzz i have no interest in paying a premium for large printruns. I won't be in a hurry to order a copy anyway.

It will probably be £19.99 save £4 or some nonsense like that

Oh Hang on it already says save £4. Crikey this better not be a 1 disc at that price

23.99 for a single disc! Ouch! EEK!

Yah. It's looks like £23.99 actually. It was listed as £27.99 for the last few weeks and then the save £4 brings it to £23.99 after the supposed savings.

Everybody keeps using that saying "Zavvi are just taking the piss now". I'm not from the UK so pardon me if I seem out of place, but I had never once heard that before seeing it on HDN, and now I've seen it probably 20+ times. At first I thought I didn't know what it means, but I'm pretty sure that I'm getting the hang of it now.

I am in the camp that believes Zavvi can charge whatever they want. They are the retailer. We are the buyers. Take it or leave it.

However, I am also part of the camp that believes voting with your wallet is best, and at £23.99 for a single disc "no extras" steelbook, I am actually starting to think that Zavvi really is just taking the piss now. With the uninspiring cover art and the highest price yet, I am having second thoughts if I will be buying this.

Unless someone can convince me that Zavvi is only raising the price this high because the price is higher for retailers on Iron Man 3 than any of these other movies, I will remain leaning heavily toward the idea that Zavvi is getting a little too greedy for their own good and it may backfire.

Jerking us around might be the US equivalent. Another descriptive phrase for Zavvi's pricing here might be 'pulling our pants down and bending us over'.

£23.99 in USD is currently $37.25. By comparison to the US, there are exactly ZERO blu ray movies, steelbook or not, selling for this price or higher, at any retailer, in any region. Even the highest priced exclusive steelbooks and digipacks here are much less.

The new G.I. Joe 3d 3 disc steelbook from Walmart is currently listed at $29.99 USD on their site, and people expect it to go on sale during release week. Les Miserables and Zero Dark Thirty were $29.99, but on sale for $22.99 and $19.99 and basically sold out at the sale prices.

Even the highest Disney and Pixar 3D 5 disc combo packs with lenticular slipcovers and all kinds of extras are $34.99 at a full retail (non sale) price. The only blu rays in all of America that might sell for more every now and then are from the Criterion Collection, but everyone knows those go on sale for $27.99 and $19.99 quite often.

So, I think it's appropriate to say that the newest prices from Zavvi are a little much, even by steelbook collectors' standards. Sorry just callin it like it is.

would be a great idea but you know everyone including the whiners are still going to buy this so theres no chance of this title being boycotted :(

I'm going to pre-order no matter what, but if the price doesn't drop below £20 and it's only a single disc then there's no way in hell to justify it. The art is alright, but definitely not for that price.

But by pre-ordering you are saying to zavvi you are happy with the price and there is no way they will be lowering it.

This is assuming that £23.99 is going to be the price, zavvi may surprise us yet, there again they may not ;)

I see what you mean. But maybe if they suddenly see a load of their pre-orders disappear a few days before the release date then it might wake them up to what they're doing.

I don't know. IM3 is probably still going to be a massively sought after steelbook just like all the other MCU films but all that money isn't actually going to be going to Zavvi, it'll be going to eBay sellers instead.

3D is nice, but not a requirement. However, in terms of pricing...i wouldn't spend the average price of a 3D package on a 2D package. Also, one would think they'd just include it, given the fact that it IS Iron Man 3, and it IS 2013, and a lot of people DO own a 3D TV.

Charging a premium price is fine, but at least include the good **** when you do.

a-freaking-men!

personally i don't watch dvds any more, not after you start watching blu ray and see the difference in sound and image...

same but being restricted (last I checked) to not being able to upgrade the drive in my macbook pro means there DVD's came in handy for use on that and on the downstairs TV

Same price as Play's 3-disc Prometheus 3D from last year.

It could be a good sign, like IM3 UK will actually be the same multi disc release.

...or it could be a sign that zavvi are laughably taking the piss.

which will it be i wonder :movie:

I'm expecting the latter :mad::tear:

Thats actually an unfair comparison. Zavvi isnt that high priced compared to the US, $25 is the avg for a new release blu ray here...and iron man at 22.99bps is quite fair. US customers only pay more cuz the $1 is only worth .62 right now. Its just economics...

sadly so will I but I'll be looking to the US in hopes of a Multi-format version, though after the viva pak's goina tits up its unlikely :(

Going to cancel all my pre-orders for any steel over 17.99 and if you want this price to be reasonable I would suggest doing the same to send a message to Zavvi.

Iron Man 3 is £23.99, not £22.99 (yes the £1 rise in price from the Disney steels is annoying). And that's in GBP, not USD. It's much more than $25 USD.

Also, I don't understand the rest of your post. Read through it 3 times but I just don't get your point in relation to the Iron Man 3 steelbook price.
