It would seem that Zavvi have dropped the Play formula and moved over to the HMV formula of newer releases with higher print runs.

Play.com didn't do many new releases and certainly not any extremely popular titles. The closest was Prometheus which was increased to 8k, so I say Zavvi aren't really doing anything different at all.

This must go live soon as Zavvi have announced 3 more steels that are being released in October yet this is out early September.

I'm guessing with the announcement by Zavvi to re-release Captain America and Thor with new artwork, that the artwork for this is going to be made to match up with the inevitable zavvi re-releases of IM and IM2 and not the Play versions.

if ppl have any sense this will go slower because they'll be wise to the fact that if this sells out & gets popular on ebay, zavvi or somebody else in the UK will just print another 10,000 copies within a few years.

It's only cool because Steelbooks are limited and unique. Eventually it is going to get to the point where Steelbooks are so commonplace they are no longer special and therefore lose their appeal.
