Iron Man 3 Steelbook - 1 Disc 2D £23.99
Iron Man 3D 2 Disc £19.99

Both Zavvi Prices. Major Fail. Major major major fail. Majorly failed.

It just goes to show what they expect people will pay for JUST a Steelbook case alone. It's never about the content with Zavvi.

Us Ninjas have spoiled them for too long with all our preordering.

Why single out IM3 when you can play the same game with all their releases? You don't seem to have such a problem with their £14.99 exclusives, even though the standard Blu-rays are £9.99 or less. The same mark-up would make an IM3 2D/3D steelbook £29.99.

Be nice if this arrives Friday. Don't want 3D and got it with the discount code so hasn't cost me £23.99. It just needs to arrive mint now and I'm a happy man.

I have a problem with every zavvi release, however I don' want to sound like a parrot.

Us Ninjas have spoiled them for too long with all our preordering.

thing is, we WILL pay for just steelbooks alone. How many of us have bought an empty case? (even if just a best buy case)
the retailers are crafty in that, they can get us to buy the same thing twice - the steelbook with barebones disc, and the amaray with bonus disc/3d disc etc
it happened all the time with cds too, fans will always buy the cd at release, then after a few months - a special edition with bonus disc.

regards pre-ordering though, its a gamble to NOT, as you don't know what will go oop and cost over the odds.
although, barring aladdin and roger rabbit, nothing else has gone oop quicky and then risen in value quickly.
so we could all hold off and wait for a price drop.
I am tempted to cancel most of mine and wait for price drops, but looking down my list, I have most of them with discount codes anyway, so I have already bought them all for a couple of quid under listed price.
I don't mind £13ish for a back catalogue, and £15ish for a new release.
I got IM3 on a code too, so I can't complain.

I must admit, my interest in steels has diminished a little now, with so many coming out.
at first it was exciting, never knowing what would be next, but now its a little tedious, and I am only getting titles that either I really want to see, or have seen and really enjoy.
concentrating on Asian imports a little (kimchi and blufans) as they are a bit special.

I'm keeping my Zavvi order because:
1) got a 5£ rebate by combining with Captain America & Thor
2) shipping is only 0.99£ compared to 10-15 Euros elsewhere...
3) don't care about 3D
4) had a 2.50£ credit with Zavvi point

That makes IM3 for 35$ shipped to :canada:
That's the best price I could have had IM3 (except for the German edition)

I think I will stick with Zavvi... 1 and 2 were play.com exclusives, so it would really annoy me to have just the one with Italian wording and not the others. The 3D thing does not bother me either, but the OCD inside me has chosen!

Plus I am getting it for £21.97 delivered. After this and the two Rambo steels to come out, I think that's me done with Zavvi. You live, you learn.

The problem is that other editions including the 3D disc are too expensive for me personally. It's either £21.44 (used the 5off50 code) for 2D only or near £30 and upwards to import from another country for the 3D disc. Just not worth nearly £10 more for the 3D disc, which is an upconvert anyway. If it was shot in 3D, it would be worth it.

here, here, fellow midland dude!

I like the artwork for the steelbook, I don't like the price, I would probably be willing to pay that price for a Steelbook with a 3D version of the film included or perhaps even a DVD copy of the film.

I don't object to paying a little extra for a steelbook but £9 extra over the standard release is steep.

So I've decided not to purchase this.

I was thinking, this release being so wide and available, must mean IM 1 &2 will rocket in demand and price!

I can imagine someone new folk starting up the steelbook game, looking down at IM3 and the collector in them awakens!

Cue the cold sweats and addiction to ebay.... "food...a wife??... hell no... they are OOP RARE AND SEALED! - I NEED 1 AND 2 TO COMPLETE THE SET!!?"

Then he discovers the Captain America and Thor Zavvi releases "what do you mean..... HMV exclusive?!"

Wait £24 and only 1 disc? I know I must have been living under a rock to only just realise this but WTF? Long gone are the days where steelbooks cost the same as their amaray counterparts :(

New release steelbooks have never cost the same as the amarays (back catalogue releases are a different story)

However, I'm with you on the price thing

No I remember the days pre the Play.com blowup that they'd cost the same (at the same store anyway, not denying you couldn't shop around an get an amaray copy cheaper)

The question is how much extra are we prepared to pay for a steelbook? As I mentioned earlier I have no objections to paying a few quid more maybe upto £5 more. But that's it. Anything more and I would feel I am being overcharged.

I'll pay what's needed because I'm a mug but even with that being said £8 more just for a steelbook is still a piss take tbh
