I've found Zavvi to be hit and miss with pre-orders.... some I've had arrive on the Saturday before release, some on release day and then some a few days after release date

When Zavvi dispatching I wonder when there going to be dispatching
Is it because its Disney new release with no early release allowed and we only get this dispatched on Sunday or Monday
I will know Tomorrow in Ireland Friday is our new release day
Standard Blu Ray will let you know if its available or if its Monday only
Sometimes with New Disney Releases it cant be sold till the Monday
Disney have they done this before So if this is the case with this release then no one can have it in UK/Ireland till Monday

I thought all new releases were Friday in Ireland and Monday in the UK-end of!

I didn't know a particular company could dictate a country's release date?? :wtf:

I used to work in a Video Store
Disney with some releases in Ireland a few years ago would not let certain releases be sold until the Monday even though release day was Friday in Ireland (Disney Classic mostly was affected and Disney were very strict with this)

I don't work in the Business anymore so I not sure if they still do this

If anyone who is a video buyer in Ireland and is still working for a record store or video store do Disney still do this

Sounds like they were just waiting for the releases to coincide with the UK?

I'm not sure what they'd gain from this. It's only a matter of two days? Especially if it was only for certain titles. Strange.

By the way this is going, we won't even get this on Monday. Disappointing really, especially considering other European releases came out 1-2 weeks back.

a company can set any date they want for release, it is down to the company not the country. there is no law stating when an item can go on sale. for example usual release date in the UK for video games is a friday, but blizzard have launched diablo 3 for consoles on a tuesday to match the world wide release.
i remember a while ago disney (i think) did a string of releases on a saturday over a year or so with some back catalgue and new dvd releases.

But regardless, the release date is Monday the 9th, therefore, they should be shipped out in time for the release day.

i agree, but not all companies do... Amazon dont, if you want on release date they make you pay the extra for 1st class post. one of the draw backs of ordering online i guess

Maybe, but Zavvi being exclusively online these days shouldn't be a factor. Play were the masters of online shopping for me, low prices, free delivery, and always got my preorders on day of release or sometimes a bit early (Star Wars episode 3 was a good day back in 2005) :D.
But unfortunately now there's always 'something' with preordering. Been looking forward to this for weeks now, and I'm off work next week so Monday would have been the perfect start, watching Iron Man 3 with my lunch. Guess it'll have to wait until another time :(

Definitely won't be getting this on Monday now. If they dispatch tomorrow it'll be Wednesday, Tuesday if lucky for me. Disney must have stopped them shipping early perhaps.

I don't think it's Disney, I received my jungle book on the Saturday before release. Everyone will probably get the "sorry we haven't dispatched your item yet" email next week. I may be wrong.

No disrespect to jungle book, but Disney probably call this a grade a blockbuster title and could be dragging their heels on this one stating no release before Monday. :dunno:

On a side note. Anchor bay issued a huge warning on my walking dead us set. Do not sell before tues August 27 severe penalties for street date violation.

I had no idea studios were like that, i take my comment back.

I had noticed there had been no despatch email yet.
I think zavvi need to send them all 1st class now, seeing as this one is a premium price title.
the whole point of pre-ordering should be to garauntee you have your item ON release day, not 2-3 days after you could have walked into Tesco and picked it up.
I know this is not available in any stores, but as pointed out, this very same steelbook is out in so many other countries already, and with a 3d disc.
2nd rate content, 2nd rate despatch times, and 2nd rate value for money.
I don't usually have a bad word to say about zavvi, but this one looks like a hat-trick of let-downs.

That's why most people went with the Italian 3D version. Myself included. Best value release of the Steelbook IMO. It goes to show, as now it appears to be OOS already.

Yeah looking at it we won't get it on release date and for such a big title this is very bad of Zavvi

Perhaps Wreck could ask them what's happening?
