Note to new members - if you're interested in someone's item, please PM them - leave trading inquiries out of the discussion threads.

Thank you.

an opened copy with a couple of small scratches went for $480 today. I threw out a fingers crossed bid, but wasn't even close.

It will be interesting to see if there is any significant drop in price for the (fs)
i don't have a copy as yet, cause iv'e been concentrating on the well lets, say the cheaper hard to get and rarer steels at the moment.
personally, its the mona lisa and 1st, and all the copies in the world could never match it,thats why i think it may hold its value.i hope it does(EVEN THOUGH I DON'T HAVE ONE)
i think the steelbook world we all live in :hilarious: needs a few mona lisa's for all of us to strive and own.
And if you do own one.....:scat:

Donovan-your question was moved to the Steelbook "Values" thread here. That thread is stickied at the top of the Steelbook Trading forum, in case you need to post further questions. Thanks

Over the last few months this Steel has been inflated on Ebay..some skyrocketing to $1000 and more. One of those copies was open-it may just be leveling out again. Ebay is also affected by when an auction ends and is started, and what selling features they have on listings. And yet others may be panic selling, thinking a re-release is coming with the same art....

The same seller had previously listed the exact same IM with the same picture here:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/330729594924?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649

The listing ended at $710 on the 14th May which is the same as the FIRST listing that ended with $504 on 31st May in the afternoon.

The winning bidder on the IM listed on the 14th of May with feedback of 709 had previously bidded and made offers on several IM's before as I recognised his feedback number and also the two letters R and D so it is unlikely that this buyer is a shill bidder inflating his own prices.

The SECOND listing ended at $360 again on 31st May by the same seller. The winner is a buyer with 0 feedback that also bidded on the $540 IM upto $480. I find this very unusual why a seller would list two IM's together that would end around the same time and on the same date. And one of the listings is identicle to previous listing that ended on the 14th May which I suspect it is from a legitimate buyer.

So it all appears a bit suspicous in my opinion. Anyone seriously after this grail would had made these enquiries already. Who knows? Maybe they got a great deal!

I was watching that too sunnyx!... And one of the iron mans was listed as "like new" but in the pic it was SEALED with a future shop sticker! Once I saw that I stopped watching it. But the one that sold for $504 looked legit... I was tempted to bid on it but I have come to terms with and i'm content with my open/mint copy... Besides I've gotten burnt all THREE times I've gotten an iron man off evil bay! I've learned my lesson! Collectors beware!

I'm not too sure about the seller increasing his prices but I know for a fact he has/had at least two copies and I think a lot more because he sent me pics of them side by aide with his username on them. Another two ended last night on auction. One was a sealed mint copy the other was an open one with a dent.

I think a lot of owners of this steelbook have realised that collectors are willing to pay a premium for it and have decided now the time is right to cash in. Hence the recent influx of supposedly "sealed mint" copies appearing on evil bay. Perhaps this has resulted in slightly lowering the price. Maybe it has inflated to begin with as DB said?!

Perhaps collectors are busy buying the Play.com wave so all their disposable cash is tied up?!
