I think it is fair to say most collectors who do not own the FS version will say the Play.com one is better, while most that own the FS version will say it is better than the Play.com one.

REGARDLESS OF ARTWORK, with an impartial view, I say it again, the FS version's quality is much better. It actually feels like a metal steelbook while the Play.com lacks feel and appearance quality with pinkish red colour with a plastic type feel.

Good for the value but you cannot really compare the two when you have them side by side. That is why IMO one is worth more than the other, regardless of artwork.

For me its all about artwork, and i just prefer the play.com front. Its just a bonus the play.com one is cheaper as i wouldnt be caught dead paying $600 for a steelbook ever xD

I agree the older steels feel nice and heavy (the way a Steelbook should feel). I'm glad I am not the only one who thought a couple of the Steelbooks from Play felt too light and plastic/thin.

Exactly, it feels like a quality release, with the glossy feel, beautiful deep red colours, the thicker borders around, the large embossed lettering which stands the steel out by a mile. All these points reflect the movie itself - Iron Man.

Play.com doesn't have the deep red colours, the glossy feel, the thicker border, the larger embossed letterings, which IMO is disappointing. They even got the wrong artwork inside which tells me one thing - rushed to get released.

I said it before, even before the Play.com version was released, this steel will not lose value. To everyone trying to degrade the FS version down that it will lose value - well you are all wrong, it never did. If you get to see one in person by chance, you can understand why this grail is highly sought to MOST collectors, not everyone, MOST :)

I'm not discussing price of the steelbook, I am elaborating why the FS IMO is better, nothing to do with the artwork.

If I was honest I quite like the artwork on play.com, but it's the points I raised is to do with the actual quality why FS wins.

Its quite simple, if you like the Play.com artwork go with that one. But these two steels are very different in person in quality wise. You cannot really compare the two.

Oh i can see why people love it, and no i dont get why people would pay so much for it,.... I just personaly prefer play.com's release.

But hey,.. Each to their own ;)

Actually, it sort of does. You wouldn't compare a Toyota Corolla to a BMW 7 series.

I dont get how you can compare steelbook movies to cars?.... I maybe slow, but it doesnt make sense to me :)

The holy grail of steelbooks personaly for me was the dark knight amazon.de steelbook trilogy, i have that so im happy xD

You know why because that opinion undermines the whole idea of collecting, period. Regardless of "value and monetary gains". Only thing that opinion achieves is a feeling of "whining". You think its unfair newbs get belittled but the other way around its not? You wanna know why? Because newbs are always the one coming around thumping (in high numbers I might add) around saying how its unfair and how high the price of a particular steel is and that they should reprint so there sorry asses can buy it. Do you see how effing dumb that that is? Its like someone saying I want a 67' Shelby GT500 and because I showed up to the party 50 years late they should start up the production factory and make more 67 Shelby GT500's so I can have one for msrp and f^ck every single person that paid $150K to buy an original from someone. That someone who spent 50 years taking care of his Shelby like it was there own child and preserving it and putting time into it. How stupid is that?

Hmm gee this land you bought for $500K 10 years ago is now worth $2mil. Naw I think you should sell it to me for $500K because I want it now. Dumb, right?

That one above you says he wants to be able to buy it for the artwork and not the rarity, right? Should we re-print Alfred Stieglitz's work because oh one little person that loves his prints and wants one in there living room? Its just artwork, right? Right  so lets print it over and over since we can.

Why dont we print some of Henri Cartier-Bresson's work while were at it so everyone and there mother can put one in the kitchen and oh re-create a DNA replica baby of Leonardo Da Vinci and commission him to make 1000 more paintings of the Mona Lisa so you and me can have one in our basement. Its the dumbest thing a person could ever say.

Either way you look at it when a particular item wether sought after for rarity or as a piece of artwork it simply should not ever be re-printed or re-created, period. There is no one person here or elsewhere that can convince me or make a compelling point otherwise. And Iron Man FS is the Mona Lisa of steelbooks make no mistake about it.

I totally agree with you 100% on this! This whole entire statement should be shown to all "New" members who log on to this forum for their first 30 days here! It took me a VERY long time to acquire Iron Man and I appreciate EVERY aspect of it (Rarity, Beauty, Blu Banner, and over-all awesome flick). If anyone REALLY wants it, then go sell a kidney and go on EvilBay just like I did! and in case any of the "New" members STILL can't fathom the fact of how awesome and PRESTIGIOUS having this steel is, then I ask you to look at the pretty little icon under my profile pic....go ahead I'll wait.....see that Iron Man icon? yeah that's right! :scat: It's something that separates the men from the boys, same goes for John Rambo. Both movies have been RE-RELEASED which is FINE! Just Don't REPRINT ANYTHING with the same freaking artwork!!!

P.S. I don't want this to sound as a "New" member bashing, which is why I didn't refer to them as "N00bs". We have a nice community here at HDN (I think) but you newer members all seem to be trying to stick together and bash on senior members....Slow your roll guys/gals! There is room here for everyone and their opinions but just be respectful about it! I personally HATE the fact that certain members PRAISE steelbooks just because they have a fancy Asian SLIP...But I wouldn't go on a page for a steelbook like that and talk crap about it. That's just stupid!

Ummmm im not talking for anyone but myself bub, if someone thanks my post or agrees with me i cant help that doesnt mean us 'New' members are sticking together.

When this steel was $20 or whatever it was originaly i wouldnt have even paid that for it, i just dont like the artwork, simple as :) im not asking for a reprint just saying personal preference for me is play.com artwork wins, FS fails IN MY OPINION ;)

It was a metaphor to the quality and build of Iron Man FS and Iron Man Play. I believe Sunnyx said it best 100%. I'm not going to respond anymore, because it is getting out of hand. If you value your steels over the artwork that is fine by me mate, no problems there.

EDit: @thewoe you said it best bud, to each his own.

As i said..... Probly me being slow,... Its 00:48am here cut me some slack :)

Everyone is entitled to their opinions, that is fine and I respect that. But you need to be more tactful in your comments. If you read your other posts all you seem to say is 'FS Fail' 'Play wins' as if this is some sort of competition?

A better quality post will be to explain why you like the play.com version better, as opposed to who's the boss of IM?

I was only lowering myself to the comments made by that fella earlier saying he blocked someone because he was a newb.

Whats life without a little humour? i put a smiley on the end of most of those 'Play.com wins' posts it means im being playful, i thought that translated? Maybe not.

When it comes to bullying so called 'newbs' i dont tollerate it, it just grinds my gears (no family guy refrence intended) i registered here after reading helpful posts and comments from users and ive noticed a few bad apples along the way trying to be little people with under 100 posts, thats not on really.

We are all here for one reason, collecting.

If you want to talk quality of steelbooks and performance of automobiles take it to the lounge thread. I don't want to have to come in here and delete a bunch of post due to heated arguments. Thanks :)

Thats kool dude.

But if you read back, the post from 'Jason Bourne' was both out of line, immature and damn right nasty. People like him just heat up any type of friendly banter members have.

This steel is not highly sort and valued without a reason. There are good reasons why this is a 'grail'. Many collectors who been collecting for a while have this in their collection. Too see people arguing over values and which one is better is pretty silly.

It's about voicing your opinions in a tactful way and respecting the collectors that own this at the same time and try to get that balance. You don't see me going to IM Play.com thread and slanting off that the FS is better. I respect collectors enjoy the UK version.

This steel has been bidded over $1000 by the public and it appears many people have something against the FS value. The market sets the price for it. If you feel its a rip off and too pricey, don't buy it. We should not be discussing the values on this thread.

It's all about voicing our opinions in a tactful manner without upsetting collectors that own the steel.

Let's not start pointing fingers here. Just because people are not posting doesn't mean there not watching. When you make a post all eye are on you especially in a thread as popular as this one so please keep it friendly and that's not just for you but for everybody in here. Thanks for understanding. :)

Well whatever the case im going to leave this discussion as im obviously the bad guy here for trying to have some friendly banter, though that other fella was acting like a damn right bully.

to each his own...both releases are superb! if you missed out on the futureshop, then the play version is more than adequate to justify just being on its on and not needing another version in your collection.out of curiosity though,i removed the discs inside both steelbooks and weighed them.the end result...futureshop version is 5.4 ounces and play version is 4.8 ounces.
