I think it is also important to keep the [1] copy per edition for these lower print runs. Unfortunately many people (including members in this community :() take advantage of purchasing multiple copies, then selling them at exuberant prices to those that missed out. I think the model that @jimmyv proposed is an effective choice, as I had Frozen many times in my cart before I had to let it go. Thank God for the GB though ;)

Why is it selfish/harsh to let everyone have an equal chance to order a copy? This thread here will alert everyone when it goes live.

Statistically speaking, you had a much higher chance of securing a copy through one of the GB- than on the Kimchi website. Remember that the HDN community is not the only consumer base Kimchi has. Frozen being a popular film, garnered the attention of many Koreans who also stormed the Kimchi website to purchase this exclusive. That said, buying through the Kimchi website may have worked better for you- but as a whole I think most HDN members found allocating a certain # of copies to exclusive GB's was a more effective way to secure a copy. :D

A GB would give everyone a better chance of getting a copy. Not everyone can log on at certain times of the day.

I said it was harsh cos you said that people should pay extra if they really want a copy and they miss out. That is very harsh my friend.

I think it's harsher that people order multiple copies to flip for more money later on. But we disagree on this point.

In a GB of this nature, im fairly sure that ppl would only be able to secure 1 copy not multiple.

The more copies that HDN are able to secure for the GB the better i say. Thats means less copies for scalpers to get their hands on and more copies for genuine collectors to get.

@justhedudeman- for most exclusives this is correct. But for that specific release it was limited to 1 copy per customer. Now there will always be ways to trick the system, and that is up to the ethical standards of each person. I think what everyone is trying to point out, is that thanks to the GB we were able to secure our copies. The Kimchi website was unresponsive at best for the first 10 minutes. I can't be certain that I would have secured a copy if the full print run would have been allocated exclusively to Kimchi :ohno:

My thoughts exactly  @justhedudeman- I understand people have different opinions, and I respect that. So no harm no foul ;)

Hey D-not yet, I believe they are still trying to work artwork and other details out. There is much excitement surrounding Kimchi releases at the moment, so it definitely is part of the discussion thread. I know Choi will post when there are major updates.

One request though guys-please keep 'scalping' and other Ebay/seller etc discussion out of the thread. Any group buys here for Kimchi are usually limited to x. But where there is a will there is a way with people making up nonsense names to get an extra copy, etc.

Hope we all get additional news soon!:scat:

I don't think there should be group buys, if someone misses out they just gotta pay a little more if they really want it. IMO of course and all that.

I'm grateful that if and when HDN has a group buy for this, it will help collectors obtain a copy from missing out. With that said, some members missed out on
The group buy for Frozen as well. The main problem is that kimchdvd's technology can't handle the ultra low print runs on extremely popular titles. The Kimchi model on their exclusives is like trying to fit 50 people in a fiat. You may be the first one to enter and are lucky if you can get jammed in the trunk. I like the idea of upping to print run to 2,000 to 2,500. With the cool added features like lenticular covers and goodies inside, I'm sure a slightly larger print run would sell quick and not lower the collectibility value of Kimchi exclusive and ensure everyone a fair chance from ordering through the retailer. Not that I have a problem with the group buys in any way, I just don't think Kimchi is designed to sell items with low print runs and people line up and are pulling their hair out because the checkout page is Frozen. Much respect to Kimchi and HDN for helping us clamoring to fulfill our desires :)

As mentioned earlier,Kimchidvd should seriously consider having a premier elite club with an annual membership fee to provide active members a guarantee of ONE copy for every exclusive title they release in the same calendar year and they won't even have to worry about upgrading their site.Let's be serious here for a second.I mean think about it...you won't have to sit around the clock waiting for the countdown of when the pre-order goes live.No worries about the site crashing. No having to wake up at 2 A.M. in the morning. No members saying" crap! I forgot about it or my alarm clock didn't go off! It would be a membership worth having.Kimchidvd would make some extra money at the same and collectors will have a piece of mind that they will be guaranteed an exclusive by the hottest company producing the highest quality steels.people would be more than happy to pay a conservative price of maybe $199.95
It might sound like a lot but if you're talking about 10-15 exclusives in one year, that is just a very microscopic percentage for those numerous copies and even buying 2 of those steels on ebay would easily surpass $200.00
They can even offer special discounts from time to time with your membership to items they sell.It would be a win-win situation for both parties and no more complaining and whining.Because the way it is, complaints will be heard after the fact as always and that will never change.

They are more than welcome to tweak it.I wanted to put it out there for other options. Its pointless for the majority of the people trying to order online. It's like getting in line at walmart for black friday. It's like a massacre.Having to buy every single exclusive they release is only for the good of the collector. You can't lose if that is your biggest stipulation for the membership. That is a nice problem to have.
