I prefer Matt Finish for Some steels as i find they scratch less easy, it's easier to have the micro scratches on the shiny steels...

dunno, I like them both so it's hard to say, but I made micro scratched on a shiny steel because I put some finger prints on it or faint grease smudges and by just rubbing it off with a soft cloth i made micro scratches...they weren't there before I was rubbing the smudges off...

5 minutes later was ordering another copy

Sorry to hear that. I also do the same with Steelies :/

It's really simple. Just send every person that has "Liked" the post, which is almost 300, an individual code. That code could then entitle each person to buy up to 2 copies.

That way Kimchi and HDN build up a mutually beneficial relationship, and those on HDN who haven't acknowledged Choi's listing have only themselves to blame. This way, everyone on HDN is happy, and collectors elsewhere are enticed to jump aboard and be part of Choi's future posts also.

Beautiful idea

I guess hosting a GB like Frozen really multiplies Kimchi's workload, even with Choi's help (like sorting mountains of PMs etc), they still had to check, compare, and input everything manually. It is understandable if Tony/Choi would feel reluctant to host another one, I can imagine the chaos they had to go through to help us acquire a copy of Frozen while running their business and preparing future releases.
That being said, I really appreciate their hard work for Frozen GB, even if there won't be another GB, that one alone still deserves a salute:thumbs:
Thank you Choi!
Sorry for being off topic :p

We need different alternatives as mentioned before. Having some sort of a club or an annual membership that allows you to secure ONE copy of their exclusives will ease the tension that exist as it is right now with trying to order on the website.people are so frustrated that they feel like its not even worth it to try to place an order for an exclusive title especially since most of the members are having to devote their personal time to place this order that is not even guaranteed.having this other option is a definite plus for members and buyers.

I like this idea - even if HDN did a tiered Ninja system where you could buy the "basic" for the current price or get a higher tier that's a collaboration between HDN and Kimchi to have special access, I would pay the "higher tier" price (because I'm going to get around to getting that ninja status sooner or later in support of the site :p)

This sounds like a fair and effective stipulation! Another possibility is to give HDN members a 5- 10 min head-start on the preordering, limiting one copy per account/shipping address. I'm not sure if there is a place during checkout to input a special code (although that is a great idea)! Instead of asking to implement something new, it seems more plausible to find a way to create a reserve system with the restrictions that are already in place :D

Wow, this looks like a really anticipated release. I bet these are going to really inflate in price like the other Iron Man steelbooks, so I really hope I can secure a release for this which looking at the demand for it, seems highly unlikely. xD

I can understand the extra workload/resources required to carry out a group buy, and why it isn't a financially sustainable business model, especially with an international online store already active.

But what I can't understand is why HDN are given exclusive preference and a unique opportunity to choose artwork (amongst other things), yet are given no exclusive preference when it comes to the actual purchasing of the product.

With a group buy no longer an option for members, the only option is to compete against individuals worldwide once it goes live. As members here have already alluded to, the sheer amount of demand is going to cause problems ordering, and frustration. Are Kimchi's servers capable of processing hundreds, possibly thousands of orders in the space of 300 seconds?

I understand not everyone is going to get a copy, and there will ultimately be disappointed members regardless - but if the current situation stays as it is, I suspect there's going to be a lot more complaints and disappointment directed at Kimchi, than if there was some system in place to reward members for their input. I would like to think of the relationship here between Kimchi and HDN as mutually beneficial, but you have to admit now without group buys, that's no longer the case.

There have been several ideas put forward on the thread already that are sensible, and fair. My suggestion would be a unique HDN member-only purchase link that goes live 30 minutes before worldwide release, up to a pre-determined percentage of the print run. This would not only reduce server load come general release time, but also give HDN members the opportunity to purchase over the general public. Is this something Choi, or a senior member here at HDN could put forward to Kimchi for consideration?

take a look at Ebay if you think this is unfair-a scalper has already posted the Amelie boxset for £199-if measures are not in place scalpers will order multiples & have a field day

I dont understand why people here think they should get special treatment lol

Because members here provide experienced and useful information relating to artwork and design, that ultimately impact positively on sales. How many times have people given out about a particular design of another steelbook, and not purchased as a result? HDN effectively act as part of the design team of Kimchi for exclusives.

Hey guys, I have been chatting with Choi on some ways to possibly work this out. HDN has always assisted in doing group buys for the community, whenever possible. Choi and Tony have been AMAZING in creating exclusives worth collecting...and pricing them fairly for collectors, imo. There is a HUGE amount of work that goes on behind the scenes to manage demand and order processing. Rest assured if this can be solved for everyone and we can play a part- we will. Thanks everyone!
