Sunny, what an absolute c0ck up!! I sincerely hope that they somehow manage to resolve the issue. As Andy said maybe they are in the warehouse waiting to be despatched? It would be unfathomable for Play to make the same mistake twice surely?!

Hopefully Wreck and his contacts can find out what's going on.

Exasperated by the fact that you were helping so many members!

Thanks for your support guys. I am in contact with a representative from Play that is dealing with the situation. He has emailed me to say that the situation has been escalated to his manager (after I sent pictures of so many IM2's) and they will be checking the warehouse of any chance they are there. I doubt they will be but that's the way it goes in such a busy warehouse under pressure to get everyone's orders dispatched in a timely fashion. I hope everyone will get theres soon.

Hope your steels get sorted soon sunny.

Had a little more time to examine both steels and i'm really impressed with the way the artwork paint interacts with the actual metal of the steel.

When you hold them up and move them to catch the light, It looks like Iron Man's eyes, palm & chest Repulsers are lightly glowing with energy. Top Top quality. Pics dont really do either steel justice

Play.com are only one step away from dethroning FS as the king of steelbook retailers imo. The one thing FS still have Play beat by a wide, wide margin is content. FS always seem to make sure they include Special Edition Discs, Extended Cut versions ect in their steels, why play only give you the basics.

If play could get that last part right with future releases they really could go on to dominate :scat:

Busy warehouse under pressure shouldn't be used as an excuse for messing up orders. If this was eBay, I am sure the buyer would have filed case Vs. the seller demanding answers.

I'm not making excuses, I'm just saying when you ship out 4,000 Iron Man 1 and 4,000 Iron Man 2 steelbooks in 1 day...I don't think it's inconceivable that a mistake would happen.

So, it's not bad to be disappointed, and that is OK to feel that way.

But the mission of this forum is to make sure that everyone is positive, supportive and perhaps we can all work together to fix the problem.

Nothing good comes from shouting, carrying on, and just plain getting angry about a subject.

One of the reasons why I left that other forum.

Too much COMPLAINING and not enough DOING.

oh no!!! i am working all week and if mine are delivered, i wont be able to collect them from sorting office until the weekend.

by that time, if i have the wrong steels, i will cry!!

Lets just move on from this unfortunate topic. Customer service have been very good and apologised as it is an error of their behalf and were very shocked as I was. Mistakes do happen but very unfortunate it had to be the most anticipated release in the UK which he already knows. They do read the forums and check on ebay to see how much Iron Man is selling now. So they know exactly how I feel. The positive side is they seen I have been a good customer for the last 11 years and will work around some form of compensation that I can takeaway. But they have assurred me they are investigation the issue to find out what went wrong, why it has gone wrong, and be checking all the warehouses for my orders.

Lets all move on now and everyone enjoy their Iron Mans. For me it is xxx number of Iron Man 2's that have over stacked my shelves!

Anyone wanna discuss this with me just PM now, lets keep the thread clean.

Thanks all.

SunnyX hopefully they resolve it soon. I am concerned about my orders now since they get shipped to the US (through a friend of course).

However, hopefully like most online retailers, play.com should have set aside a batch of extra IM steelbooks because I'm sure they'll anticipate issues with damaged shipping or incorrect orders. Most online retailers do that.

Eg: I had pre-ordered Diablo 3 Collector's edition 7 months in advance from ebgames.com

However the credit i used then to place the order had expired and they had asked for a new form of payment. Which I did submit but their system wouldn't accept it and asked me to call in. I called in and they repeatedly failed to add my new credit card. Any how, after 24 hours the system automatically removed my pre-order and cancelled it. Needless to say i was furious because the game had been sold out for months and here i was with a guaranteed copy only to have it cancelled. After resolving the issue with them the next day, they were able to secure me another copy saying that they always keep extras in stock but never keep them part of the inventory online in case any issues arise.

if play.com is smart, I'm sure they'll have an emergency stock on hand.

However, once i do receive my copies mid-August, I'll post some pictures too:

Click on spoiler below for samples of my work (I will put in extra care/effort for the HDN forum. And I wouldn't mind posting pics of other steelbooks i have for the HDN database. These pics were for eBay so i didn't care tooooo much about lighting):

Maybe I can work with the people here if they'd like professional looking pictures taken of their steelbooks. I can do this on the weekends. Will see if we, me and the staff here would like to work something out.

On that note mine still haven't arrived, thinking only a couple of lucky people, or perhaps people who ordered special delivery got there's today. There is a serperate option for Special Delivery I think when you order and it's costs a bit more? Can anyone post pics of the front of this but opened in the mean time?

Just had a look at Ebay, notice quite a few people selling copies of Ironman....with a X amount available?!......:(
Glad I pre-ordered now! Would be slightly annoyed at having to pay 3 times the price.....

Hopefully will do when I get home tonight !

Someone has posted the back and inside of their open copy already, I just wondered if they wouldn't mind posting the front as well to get a better look at it before mine arrives. Thanks though i'll be waiting for your pics ;)

Quick shot side-by-side with the King of all steelbooks, Play.com one is one sweet and sexy contender for sure BUT for me personally FS one is and will remain the king for sometime to come (note check the color of FS steel compared to Play's one), well done Play.com for a great looking steelbook that is up there with some of the best, we salute you :)

Enuff talking and here are the shots, judge by yourselves and we all have our own opinions of course:
