Doesn't matter to me, I only buy what I want to own and watch.

I never buy more than one copy (except when I bought two copies of Iron Man 1 and 2 as the second copies were birthday presents), even when it would have been handy down the road to trade. I always open them, watch the disc and throw away any J-cards etc. that come with it.

The way I look at it is that is their fault. I was going to pay about $25 USD a piece for the Centenary MI steels but opted to hold off. I am glad I did sonce Zavvi now has them and I just bought all three for $15 USD a piece.

As much as I love the Thor and CA steelbooks, being that I open mine I find it a waste to spend that much money on one. I do know some people are true collectors and I applaud that, but paying someone $100 + for a $30 movie is just crazy.

I smoke, and I know that I'm paying through the nose compared to their productions costs. The point is, that I get £6 worth of enjoyment from them a day, they're not worth £30 a day though and I certainly wouldn't carry on if the only way I could get them was through the secondary market. Not that any of this is really relevant to steelbooks.

No, but surely you recognise the hypocrisy of saying that people have more money than sense for buying something they want to buy that will last forever, whilst you yourself are buying things that 1. Don't last very long at all; 2. Cost you a damn sight more in the long term; and 3. Actually harm you.

I'm not preaching about your smoking, more the accusation that people buying expensive steels don't have any sense.

I don't understand why people ask for re-prints. Sure it's annoying missing out on great titles, but it happens to every collector. Part of the Steelbook game is exclusivity, take that away and it makes it a lot less fun (in my opinion). I like buying amarays, but they don't excite me like opening a package from a member from across the world or winning that eBay auction for that rare title or getting caught up in the hype of a new release.

Why not ask for new titles rather than ones that have already been released? There are plenty of Paramount titles that are begging for a Steelbook release. I would love to see Catch Me If You Can, The Truman Show, Trading Places, Beverly Hills Cop etc. but no let's forget that and just have reprints of all the titles I missed out on. In the end all it boils down to is selfishness, I want this, I can't afford it, let's make more instead!

I'm asking for reprints because I think the prices people are asking for these on ebay etc are absurd, and I'm not raging against collectors, it's the scalpers who bought multiple copies simply to screw money out of people who are genuine fans/collectors of these films and also played a part in denying people copies that I'd enjoy seeing squirm. Saying that, I'm not bothered if someone is upset that their rare title will reappear at some point - there's more important things in life to concern yourself with. Presumably people have come to terms with the Star Trek rerelease and hopefully the blatant scalpers are gutted.

There's still plenty of new titles coming out as evidenced by this fine site, and there's no doubt there's plenty of demand for these oop titles - can't see why there's not room for both options. It's my opinion, I'm not seeking approval or trying to upset anyone. Some of the reactions to my twitter request though, blimey don't burst a blood vessel

I bought Iron man for £45.i love the play version.but in all honesty it does not bother me if they release another copy.some people will pay high prices for steelbooks,some not,each to there own.just a shame that greedy people buy 15 copies of a film with a 4000 quota,and then sell them for high prices on ebay.but that's life I guess.

I don't like scalpers either but there isn't much we can do. As for the absurd prices, that's not really down to scalpers, that is down to demand. There are some titles people have tried to scalp (Battle Royale and Oldboy for example) which have plummeted. The only reason certain titles have risen so much is because real demand is there. 4,000 copies doesn't go far when you've got collectors from all over the world.

I do not agree with the principle of reprints though. There are plenty of titles I missed out on that were released before I started collecting. I tried to get the ones I could afford and just dealt with the fact that I couldn't afford some. That doesn't mean that I want them reprinted just because I missed out. The best compromise is new artwork or a different format (i.e. trilogy, anthology Steelbooks etc.). I wouldn't like to see Iron Man re-released but I wouldn't mind seeing an Iron Man 1 & 2 Steelbook (even though I wouldn't buy it) or a trilogy Steelbook when the third comes out.

I have Iron Man bluray steelbook from Play.com and the DVD steelbook 2008 US Edition which I bought many years ago.

We take it for granted that the new bluray editions have more extras or bonus material than the old DVD editions, BUT! I have noticed that some of the older DVD steelbooks editions such as Iron Man DVD steelbook 2008 US Edition has a lot more extras than the latest Iron Man bluray steelbook 2012 from Play.com.
