Great White North
Okay, let me rephrase that, it frakkin snowed. It is September 17th and it snowed last night and I am pissed off. I barely got my winter tires off from last year and it is almost time to put them on again.

I live just North of Calgary, Alberta and for anyone in my area you know what crappy weather we have had this year. I remember very well being stuck at home due to to a snowstorm this past May and then we get no summer at all, and now the first snow of the year has happened already.

To my horror this morning I stepped out on my back deck, in the dark, to a cruching under my feet. I am thinking "What the hell is that" so I crack the light on to find a frozen layer of snow and ice, on Sept. 17th

I am not bashing Calgary or Alberta, but come on now. I spent most of my life in British Columbia and in Victoria on Vancouver Island where I spent the last 12 years before moving out to Alberta, winter is about 15 minutes long and then it is done, not 8 months long like out here

Okay, I am done now, just needed to vent a little. It's time to go buy the winter washer fluid and change the tires as more snow is forecast for Tuesday next week :(

Cheers

What the hell Michael - we usually get snow pretty early compared to a lot of other US states, but that is just crazy.

I wouldn't even have time to get my winter lettuce planted and my hoop house installed. EEK!

It is nuts. You barely get rid of the chill from last winter before it seems that the next one is here.

We have crazy weather here in the Calgary are and most of it is due to the chinook effect from the Rockies. It can be January and -20C one day, and 15C two days later.

Calgary weather books have listing that have recorded snowfall in every month of the year, not in the same year, but no month is safe

I have a feeling you'd looooove California :p

I have a feeling you are right :scat:

try Monterrey, ehh, mmhh, maybe not 35 or 40 C for one or two weeks in summer will melt you for sure, but south of México is good since templated weather remains all year long as Cuernavaca "the city of ethernal spring" ;)

good luck & patience!!

I want that right now... It's been hot as hell here all summer and we are over 9 inches behind on rain this year. I'm not a huge fan of summer as it is but this one is sticking around extremely long....

Wow snowing in September! glad I don't have to worry about snow or much rain. Here in southern Cali we get rain maybe 5 days a year and an average of 70 degrees year round, except during summers were the heat goes up. Can't complain :D

I can honestly say that I hate it. Other than the damn snow (winter) it is great living where I do, but the "if you blink you will miss it" summers are really getting to me :(
