That situation arises when there is no cheaper alternative.

I think, for most collectors, it all comes down to presentation. A lot of people are happy and completely satisfied with just a steelbook. Those folks don't need fancy packaging and see no value in it being a limited edition, which is perfectly fine. There may be a fringe group that secretly wants the bells and whistles but can't afford the extra expense so they buy the cheapest release. A collector, OTOH, doesn't worry about prices and wants the best, nicer edition for display purposes but also because they're big fans of the film(s). That group (I'm in it) sees great value in the limited editions and will stop at nothing to obtain them. We appreciate the extra attention given, whatever that may be: slipboxes, figurines, art cards, etc. In the end, we're all for for the same reasons: our love for movies, however they're presented :)

The way I look at the whole set is: take 3 nice steel books, wrap them in plain black cardboard sleeves, wrap all that in a plain cardboard box, stick on a cheap looking metal but and chuck in a couple of stills from the films.

It is fine to have a different opinion but there is no need for the condescending attitude.

I'll try to word my thoughts differently but by no means were my intentions to "talk down" to anyone. I'm simply presenting, as you state, my opinion. Everyone here buys what they want to buy and no one expects members to "explain" why they make certain decisions. Apologies if anyone was offended.

For me IF I dont like the movie I wont buy it ! END OF NO WAY NO HOW NO !:stop::stop:.

The extras I very rearly watch :wow:.

Now I won't stop at nothing to get an edition not even IF it is a 1 of 1 Pacific Rim :OMG: . Like other Ninjas here I'd give mine up to help out as would others  .

See for me having a display is like Toy Story's Stinky Pete . Left on a shelf unwanted unopened unloved :giggle:.

I'd rarther my stuff be like Woody , Buzz Jessie and the rest of the gang Celiphane off watched and loved :hilarious: .

As you have said we all have our reasons none of them right non of them wrong . Me personaly I'm happy with my trilogy amray :) .

That is one hell of a shot mate , like me in a morning   .

What really makes me chuckle, when I read some of the comments regarding this release, if its that bad or over priced why show so much interest in the thread....I'm looking forward receiving this, imo this is definitely the best Jurrasic Park release.
If you're so happy overpaying for this why do you care what others are saying about it?

At the end of say no one can determine what is or is not overpriced for anyone but themselsves. We all value things differently so even though some may not be willing to pay for this, those same individuals can not determine for anyone else what is overpriced. I for one purchased it because I was willing to, I felt like it was worth it to me as others did also so all the back and forth with the worth of it at this point may be a bit unnecessary. Just let ppl enjoy their new additions to their collections and call it a day

Similarly, why are you so concerned that others are 'overpaying' for something when they all appear to be stoked to have got a copy?

Seems like you are trying to rain on their parade...

No Luke, I think, like many of us, for @StifflersDad it's the 'rabbit caught in the headlamp's glare' scenario in that we are utterly amazed that anyone would be taken in, willing and happy to pay significantly over the odds for, as @kenny222 just put it, a bit of black cardboard and a couple of cards tagged onto the generic, rather nice steelbooks.

by your logic, steels are just nice blu ray discs wrapped in colored metal with a couple stills chucked in, right?

If you're so happy overpaying for this why do you care what others are saying about it?

TO me it's a fair price for such an awesome, limited set. If you feel its a rip off, then you can feel free to move on...no need for the wind up..

Don't condescend and patronize me!

Sadly, like so many of your ilk, you don't take the time to read thoroughly and inwardly digest before reacting.
'Significantly over the odds' does NOT mean the odd few pounds or dollars - it means, in this particular case, somewhere in the order of $100! Which, IS a significant amount, like it or not!

I must remind you that I, like others here, have a right to my opinion without receiving personal attacks from you, or anyone else!
